Job Posting Organization:
Agoro Community Development Association (ACDA) operates through the Enabling Rural Opportunity Network (ERONet), a community-based nonprofit organization founded on 27 August 2001 in Lamwo District, Northern Uganda. The organization focuses on improving the lives of women, girls, youth, and vulnerable households through various initiatives including education support, women’s empowerment, protection, livelihoods, and community resilience. ERONet's mission is to strengthen resilient and inclusive rural communities by supporting girls’ education, protecting women and girls, strengthening livelihoods, and promoting community resilience in Northern Uganda. Currently, ERONet is finalizing its revised Strategic Plan for 2025–2030, aiming to enhance its financial planning and donor readiness.

Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteer is crucial for ERONet as it transitions from a grassroots initiative to a more robust locally led development organization. The volunteer will play a significant role in developing a realistic and donor-ready five-year financial projection that aligns with ERONet's Strategic Plan for 2025–203
  • This role involves collaborating with the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Executive Director and the strategic planning team to review the existing strategic plan and financial information, analyze organizational priorities, and conduct research on comparable organizations. The volunteer will also be responsible for creating a financial projection framework, developing annual budgets, and identifying potential funding streams, thereby directly contributing to the sustainability and institutional development of ERONet.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteer will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
  • Reviewing ERONet’s revised Strategic Plan for 2025–2030 to understand its objectives and priorities.
  • Analyzing existing organizational financial information and annual reports to assess current financial health.
  • Conducting benchmarking and light research on similar grassroots/community-based organizations in Uganda and the region to inform financial projections.
  • Developing a realistic five-year financial projection framework that aligns with ERONet’s strategic objectives and implementation phases.
  • Supporting the development of estimated annual budgets and identifying pathways for funding growth.
  • Proposing potential funding streams and resource mobilization strategies suitable for a grassroots organization focused on women and community development.
  • Assisting in drafting a concise Financial Sustainability and Resource Mobilization section for inclusion in the Strategic Plan.
  • Participating in virtual discussions and feedback sessions with the ERONet team as necessary.
  • Submitting editable final documents and tables in Word and/or Excel format to ensure accessibility and usability.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess a strong background in financial planning, budgeting, and resource mobilization, particularly within the nonprofit sector. Candidates should have experience in developing financial projections and budgets, as well as familiarity with donor engagement strategies. Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct research on comparable organizations are essential. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with the ERONet team and present findings clearly.

Educational Background:
Candidates should ideally hold a degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in financial management or nonprofit management would be advantageous. A solid understanding of financial principles and practices, particularly in the context of nonprofit organizations, is crucial for success in this role.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have prior experience in financial planning, budgeting, and resource mobilization, preferably within the nonprofit sector. Experience working with community-based organizations or in post-conflict settings would be beneficial. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of developing financial projections and engaging with donors or funding agencies.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and documentation will be conducted in English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Uganda may be considered an asset but is not required for this position.
