Job Overview:
The role of the online volunteer is to support the A-Net community of practice, which aims to enhance community resilience and protection during health emergencies. This involves creating a shared space for practitioners, community actors, civil society organizations, and partners to exchange experiences and practical solutions. The volunteer will be responsible for drafting meeting agendas, writing short scripts for welcome remarks, and taking concise meeting minutes that capture key points, decisions, and next steps. Additionally, the volunteer will help facilitate the transition from closed, invitation-based meetings to a more open and sustainable community of practice by suggesting formats, engagement ideas, and governance approaches. This position is ideal for individuals with strong writing and organizational skills who have an interest in community building within international or public-interest contexts. The time commitment is flexible, requiring approximately 10-20 hours per meeting, and the work arrangement is fully remote.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Draft meeting agendas and scripts for welcome remarks to ensure meetings are well-structured and engaging.
  • Take concise meeting minutes that accurately reflect key points, decisions made, and next steps to maintain a clear record of discussions.
  • Support the transition from closed, invitation-based meetings to a more open and sustainable community of practice by proposing innovative formats and engagement strategies.
  • Share ideas for strengthening community collaboration and enhancing participation in future meetings.
  • Engage with community members to gather feedback and insights that can inform the development of future meeting agendas and formats.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation from all community members, particularly vulnerable groups.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong writing and organizational skills to effectively draft meeting materials and capture discussions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with community building and public health issues, particularly in the context of health emergencies.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders and facilitate discussions.
  • Proficiency in using digital communication tools and platforms for remote collaboration.

Educational Background:
A background in public health, international relations, community development, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant experience in community engagement or volunteer work in public-interest settings will be highly regarded.

Experience:
Previous experience in organizing meetings, taking minutes, or facilitating discussions is beneficial. Experience working in community development or public health settings, particularly in roles that involve collaboration with various stakeholders, is also advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the community served may be considered a plus, enhancing communication with diverse community members.
