Job Overview:
The position of Superviseur sécurité involves overseeing the operational and technical aspects of security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security activities at UN sites, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and safety standards. The role is critical in safeguarding personnel, property, and technical facilities, contributing to the overall safety of UN operations. The supervisor will be responsible for the management of security personnel, ensuring they are well-trained and equipped to handle emergencies, and will play a key role in maintaining a secure environment for UN staff and visitors. This position requires a proactive approach to security management, with a focus on prevention, vigilance, and intervention during crises.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervision of Operations: Regularly monitor security activities at UN sites, including staff rotation planning. Actively participate in field interventions during emergencies such as fires, medical emergencies, natural disasters, or crowd management. Provide support to security teams during crises. Train, motivate, and hold security personnel accountable, reporting any relevant issues to the security focal point. Work flexible hours, including nights, holidays, and weekends. Ensure the continuous operation of security equipment, reporting any malfunctions. Serve as the contact point for agency personnel during visits or planned events.
  • Reporting and Monitoring: Prepare detailed intervention reports and submit them to relevant authorities. Alert the PFS and agency head during urgent situations. Identify equipment needs and communicate them to technical services. Verify and sign control logs before presenting them to the PFS. Keep track of security personnel absences due to leave or illness.
  • Compliance with Procedures: Ensure strict adherence to security protocols and operational rules. Monitor compliance with internal procedures by security teams.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment (SSE): Conduct risk prevention actions and raise awareness among staff about SSE best practices during meetings or site visits. Update documentation such as visitor logs, mail logs, and vehicle logs. Perform any other tasks as required, following UN agency procedures.

Required Qualifications:
  • Secondary education is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in security, reception services, administration, or a similar field is required.
  • Proven experience in direct supervision of personnel and team coordination is essential.
  • Previous experience with UN agencies or international organizations is desirable.
  • Required competencies include personnel management skills, technical process management skills, knowledge of HSE requirements, proficiency in office software, strong communication skills, group facilitation, professionalism, and respect for confidentiality. Knowledge of fire safety and a valid driver's license are also required. Experience with detection equipment such as CCTV, X-ray machines, and metal detectors is considered an asset. First aid certification and any other security-related certifications are desirable.

Educational Background:
A secondary education level is required for this position, which provides the foundational knowledge necessary for effective supervision and management of security operations.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in security or related fields, with a strong emphasis on direct supervision and team coordination. Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is preferred, as it demonstrates familiarity with the operational standards and expectations of the UN system.

Languages:
Fluency in both French and Arabic is mandatory, with the ability to speak and write proficiently in both languages. This bilingual requirement is crucial for effective communication within the UN environment and with local stakeholders.
