Job Overview:
The position of Responsable d’atelier involves overseeing the technical, operational, and organizational management of the Liimba workshop, which focuses on the refurbishment of used prosthetics. The role is crucial in ensuring the quality of the refurbishment processes and the overall performance of the workshop. The individual will work under the supervision of the Chef de projet Liimba and will contribute to the structuring and development of the Liimba activity, which serves humanitarian programs of HI. The workshop primarily relies on volunteers who disassemble prosthetics, clean components, and prepare them for shipment to partner rehabilitation centers in Africa and Asia. This role is vital in equipping beneficiaries who cannot afford prosthetics, thereby improving their quality of life.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Responsable d’atelier include:
  • Operational Management of the Workshop: Organizing and coordinating daily activities, supervising volunteers, ensuring proper task distribution, maintaining workshop cleanliness and safety, and planning short- and medium-term activities.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensuring adherence to HI's defined refurbishment processes, implementing hygiene and safety standards, conducting initial sorting of recyclable donations, and performing quality control on refurbished components.
  • Logistics: Preparing physical orders, organizing stock management, updating inventory records, participating in annual inventory, ensuring equipment functionality, coordinating incoming and outgoing flows, and identifying needs for consumables.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively contributing to the improvement of processes, organization, and tools within the workshop, and proposing optimization strategies.
  • Team Coordination: Leading work sessions with volunteers, fostering teamwork, sharing best practices, and creating a collaborative environment.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Tracking activity indicators, contributing to project reporting, planning activities with the project manager, and identifying workshop evolution needs.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the position include: - A BTS in Orthoprothesis or a Bachelor's degree in Mechanics and Industry. - Experience in operational team management, whether with volunteers or technicians. - Background in workshop management, production, or technical environments, preferably in orthopedic prosthetics or medical devices. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Proficiency in English is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a BTS in Orthoprothesis or a Bachelor's degree in Mechanics and Industry, which provides the necessary technical knowledge and skills relevant to the role.

Experience:
The position requires experience in managing a workshop or production environment, ideally within the orthopedic prosthetics or medical devices sector. Candidates should have a proven track record of operational team management, demonstrating their ability to lead and coordinate activities effectively.

Languages:
Proficiency in French is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of English is considered a valuable asset, enhancing communication within the international context of the organization.

Additional Notes:
The position is a fixed-term contract (CDD) for 12 months, part-time (60%), starting from July 1, 2026, with the possibility of renewal. The role offers a framework status with 34 paid leave days and 13 additional days off per year.
