Job Overview: The Young Professional – Inclusive Value Chains position is designed to support the coordination and implementation of program activities related to inclusive value chain development under the Market-Led Inclusive Value Chain Development Programme. The role involves working closely with the National Project Manager and the Technical Support Unit to ensure effective program execution. The Young Professional will engage with various stakeholders, including government departments, private sector partners, and producer organizations, to facilitate the implementation of program activities. This position emphasizes the importance of sustainable development and aims to create economic opportunities for marginalized communities, particularly women and youth. The Young Professional will also be responsible for monitoring program progress, documenting best practices, and supporting knowledge management efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Young Professional include:
Supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of program activities across selected value chains and geographies, including the preparation of workplans and tracking progress.
Assisting in coordination with government departments, State Rural Livelihood Missions, private sector partners, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective program implementation.
Organizing program meetings, consultations, workshops, and training programs, including the preparation of background materials and documentation.
Monitoring program progress, maintaining trackers, compiling data, and preparing periodic progress reports and implementation summaries.
Documenting best practices, case studies, and lessons learned related to value chain interventions and inclusive livelihoods.
Providing logistical support to program teams and partners to ensure timely delivery of planned outputs.
Supporting knowledge management and information sharing across program stakeholders.
Performing other related duties as required to support effective program implementation.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a strong commitment to the mission of UNDP and a passion for sustainable development. Experience: The position is aimed at young professionals, typically requiring 0-2 years of relevant experience in development work, project management, or related fields. Candidates with internships or volunteer experience in similar roles will be considered favorably. Experience working with marginalized communities, particularly women and youth, is highly desirable, as is familiarity with inclusive economic development practices.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the working language of UNDP. Knowledge of local languages spoken in India, such as Hindi or regional dialects, is considered an asset and may enhance communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in New Delhi, India. The Young Professional will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position offers a Monthly Voluntary Living Allowance (VLA) of INR 56,126.69, along with a one-time entry lump sum payment of USD 350 and relocation costs if applicable. An exit allowance of USD 120 for each month served will be paid upon successful completion of the assignment. The position includes comprehensive health, life, and malicious acts insurance coverage, as well as 2.5 days of annual leave per month. The Young Professional will have access to UNV's learning and career development resources.
