Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in the implementation of the FAO-China South-South Cooperation Trust Fund Project aimed at enhancing the technical and innovative capacity to accelerate the transformation of agrifood systems in Small Island Developing States (SIDS). This position requires a proactive approach to ensure compliance with planning, monitoring, and evaluation requirements established for the project. The coordinator will lead the execution of project outputs, develop coordination processes with various stakeholders, and prepare operational plans and analytical reports. The role also involves supervising the organization of virtual meetings, training events, and participatory workshops, as well as supporting the verification and evaluation of budget execution. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for identifying and liaising with relevant Chinese institutions and experts to facilitate targeted interventions and promote knowledge transfer and collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include ensuring compliance with project planning, monitoring, and evaluation requirements, leading the execution of project outputs, developing coordination processes with component leads and partners, preparing Annual Operational Plans and budgets, and drafting technical notes on project actions and results. The coordinator will also supervise the organization of virtual meetings and workshops, support budget execution evaluations, prepare annual and final consultancy reports, and identify and engage with Chinese institutions and experts to support project components. Additionally, the coordinator will guide Chinese experts in project activities and participate in events to promote coordination and experience exchange.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in agricultural sciences, business administration, rural development, economics, food and nutrition security, project management, or related fields. For those with a bachelor's degree, two additional years of relevant professional experience are required. A minimum of 5 years of experience in food and nutritional security or regional development in SIDS is essential, with at least 4 years in projects financed by international cooperation resources. Candidates should have experience leading multidisciplinary teams and engaging with multiple stakeholders.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in relevant fields such as agricultural sciences, business administration, rural development, economics, food and nutrition security, or project management. For candidates with a bachelor's degree, additional professional experience is necessary to meet the qualifications.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in food and nutritional security or regional development, particularly in SIDS. Candidates should have experience in managing and advocating for institutionalization processes with public and/or private sector institutions, with a focus on projects financed by international cooperation resources. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and participatory processes is also essential.

Languages:
A working knowledge (level C) of English or another official FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is mandatory. Knowledge of Chinese is considered an asset for this position.
