Job Overview:
The E T Consultant position at the World Bank Group involves supporting the corporate dialogue and daily engagement with Rome-based UN organizations, such as the World Food Programme (WFP), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The consultant will be responsible for producing high-quality communication materials, including talking points and messaging, while ensuring alignment with the corporate voice and priorities. This role requires a proactive approach to managing relationships and partnerships with multilateral institutions, as well as a strong understanding of the political and institutional dynamics that influence the World Bank Group's operations in Rome. The consultant will work closely with senior management and various teams to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of the World Bank Group's initiatives in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The External Affairs Consultant will execute a range of tasks, including: developing and implementing a strategic engagement workplan for multilateral affairs in Rome; coordinating institutional-level dialogue with Rome-based UN organizations; supporting the advancement of WBG engagement with the broader UN system; monitoring policy developments across Rome-based agencies; identifying opportunities for partnerships; supporting joint initiatives and platforms; providing advice on multilateral engagement context; drafting briefs for senior management; collaborating with communications colleagues; organizing high-level meetings and events; and tracking relevant multilateral processes. The consultant will also be responsible for writing, editing, and revising communication materials, liaising with other professionals, and ensuring consistency of messaging across the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A strong knowledge of the United Nations system, particularly the Rome-Based Agencies, is essential. Demonstrated experience in multilateral engagement, stakeholder coordination, and partnership development is required, along with a broad understanding of issues in agriculture and food systems transformation. Candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Proficiency in digital platforms and familiarity with the World Bank Group's processes and priorities are also important.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree or equivalent is required for this position, which should be complemented by relevant professional experience in fields related to external affairs, communications, or international development. Candidates with a background in agriculture, food systems, or related areas will be particularly well-suited for this role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience, with a focus on multilateral engagement, stakeholder coordination, and partnership development. Candidates should have a proven track record of working effectively in complex environments and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders, particularly within the context of international organizations and development agencies.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Italian and/or French is highly desirable, as it will enhance communication and collaboration with Rome-based UN organizations and stakeholders. Candidates should demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to produce high-quality materials under tight deadlines.

This is a full-time consultancy position with a term duration of one year. The recruitment is classified as local, meaning that candidates should ideally be based in Italy or have the ability to work in Rome. The position is subject to the World Bank Group's policies regarding Extended Term appointments, which are limited to a maximum of three years.
