Job Overview:
The National Consultant for WEPs Awards will play a crucial role in supporting the coordination, outreach, and implementation of campaigns and activities related to the WEPs Awards at the national level in the Philippines. This position requires leveraging existing networks and expanding partnerships with private sector entities to ensure sustained engagement and implementation of the Women’s Empowerment Principles. The consultant will be responsible for planning and executing outreach events, engaging stakeholders, and documenting activities in collaboration with UN Women and its partners. The role also involves providing technical and administrative support throughout the WEPs Awards process, ensuring compliance with UN Women procedures, and promoting awareness of the WEPs among private sector stakeholders. The consultant will contribute to the overall goal of increasing the participation of various business entities in gender-inclusive practices and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will undertake several key tasks, including:
  • Coordinating and implementing national WEPs Awards activities, such as outreach events and stakeholder engagement, in collaboration with relevant partners.
  • Providing technical and administrative support to ensure timely and compliant implementation of the WEPs Awards process.
  • Supporting learning and awareness-raising activities on the WEPs and the WEPs Awards among private sector stakeholders.
  • Assisting in promoting the adoption and implementation of the WEPs among private sector actors.
  • Following up with companies and private sector groups engaged in the WEPs and/or WEPs Awards.
  • Contributing to outreach and engagement efforts to strengthen partnerships and sustain private sector participation.
  • Coordinating administrative and logistical arrangements for WEPs Awards-related activities and ensuring timely submission of required documentation.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a comprehensive set of qualifications, including:
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Strong event planning capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of the private sector landscape in the Philippines.
  • Familiarity with government institutions and political dynamics in the Philippines.
  • A solid understanding of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment issues.
  • Knowledge of the Women’s Empowerment Principles is considered an asset.
  • Ability to analyze trends and synthesize data into actionable recommendations for management and strategic decision-making.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education as a minimum requirement. A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or journalism is desirable, providing a foundation for effective communication and stakeholder engagement.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should possess at least seven years of progressively responsible work experience in advocacy campaigns, networking, training, facilitation, and coordination of events or multistakeholder activities. A strong understanding of gender equality issues, particularly in the context of women’s economic empowerment in the Philippines, is essential. Experience with social media and digital communications is required, and familiarity with women’s economic empowerment issues is desirable. Additionally, experience working with UN agencies or other international development organizations and donor agencies is an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Filipino is mandatory for this position, ensuring effective communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.

  • The consultant will report to the Programme Analyst – GAL (Philippines) and will collaborate closely with UN Women’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, as well as various stakeholders including government, private sector, civil society, and development partners.
