Job Overview: The Information Systems Officer will play a crucial role in the Business Engagement Division (BED) or the IT Service Center, reporting to the assigned supervisor or the Senior Information Systems Officer in the field. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing, administering, and supporting both enterprise on-premise and cloud systems, including messaging and collaboration systems, content management platforms, and IT service management systems. This position requires a proactive approach to fulfilling Service Level Agreements (SLAs), resolving reported issues, and ensuring maximum system performance and availability. The officer will also be tasked with creating and maintaining documentation for ongoing operations and business continuity, collaborating with project managers and business analysts to design solutions that meet business needs, and contributing to the development of policies and training plans related to information management and technology. Additionally, the role involves assisting with security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">information security activities, managing user accounts and access, and ensuring compliance with UN best practices and industry standards. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Information Systems Officer include:
Implementing, administering, and supporting enterprise on-premise and cloud systems, ensuring compliance with SLAs.
Identifying, resolving, and escalating reported systems and operational issues in coordination with support teams.
Monitoring and analyzing system activities to ensure optimal performance and availability.
Recommending and performing software patches, upgrades, and purchases as necessary.
Providing second-level support for applications and services to other support teams.
Creating and maintaining quality documentation for operations and business continuity, including system topologies and operating instructions.
Collaborating with project managers and business analysts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to develop solutions for business needs.
Participating in the development and maintenance of Information Management and Technology standards, policies, and procedures.
Assisting with information security activities, including reporting vulnerabilities and implementing remediation measures. 1
Managing user account and access management for applications and systems, including creating accounts and resolving access issues. 1
Conducting periodic reviews and audits of user accounts to ensure compliance with approved roles. 1
Complying with DITID policies and conducting training for business counterparts and team members as required. 1

Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Information Systems Officer position include:
A university degree from an accredited institution in computer science, information technology, electrical or computer engineering, or a related discipline.
Certifications such as Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, and IT Service Management certification (e.g., ITIL Foundation) are essential.
Desirable qualifications include project management training with practitioner certification and certifications in Microsoft Office 365 Administration, Azure Administrator Associate, SharePoint Online, or other related Microsoft cloud-based systems.
Knowledge of UNRWA's operations and computer facilities environment is also beneficial.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree from an accredited educational institution in a relevant field such as computer science, information technology, electrical or computer engineering, or a related discipline. Additionally, certifications in cloud services and IT service management are required to ensure the candidate is well-equipped for the technical demands of the role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of responsible and relevant work experience in the implementation and administration of Microsoft on-premises or cloud-based platforms, as well as experience with messaging and collaboration systems, content management systems, and active directory. Knowledge and experience in IT service management implementation and management are also required to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Languages: For this position, proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Candidates must demonstrate a minimum level of proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking English according to the UN Language Framework. While French is also a working language, English is the primary requirement for this job opening.
Additional Notes: The contract type for this position is a "Daily Paid" contract modality for up to three months, with the possibility of extension based on the agency's needs, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance. The position is graded at A15, with a daily rate of 38.69 USD. Additional benefits include one day of annual leave and one day of sick leave for each completed month of service.
