Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position within the Education Section at UNICEF in Cameroon is designed for international interns to contribute meaningfully to the Education Programme. The interns will support the implementation of various education programme activities, including trainings, workshops, and field missions. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a complex environment that combines humanitarian crises with long-term development challenges. Interns will enhance their understanding of education systems, contribute to program delivery, and develop professional competencies in a real-world setting. The internship aims to provide a structured framework for students from diverse academic backgrounds to engage in practical work assignments while being exposed to UNICEF's child rights-based programming and humanitarian action.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for supporting the implementation of education programme activities, which includes assisting in the follow-up of activities implemented by partners, contributing to basic monitoring tasks, and strengthening their understanding of programme delivery. They will prepare for meetings by drafting minutes, briefing notes, and presentations, gaining exposure to UNICEF's coordination processes. Additionally, interns will contribute to communication and visibility efforts by documenting activities, success stories, and short reports. They will participate in field visits to gain direct exposure to UNICEF operations and community-level interventions, assist in collecting qualitative information, and provide general support to the Education Section by bringing in their academic knowledge and skills to enhance programme delivery.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, candidates must be enrolled in a degree programme, in graduate school, or be a recent university graduate (master’s or higher) in fields such as international development, project management, social sciences, or related disciplines. Fluency in English or French is required, and candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to UNICEF's mission and values.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a relevant educational background, which includes being currently enrolled in or having recently graduated from a degree programme in international development, project management, social sciences, or related fields. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of UNICEF's work and the challenges faced in the education sector.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandatory, candidates should possess a strong academic background and demonstrate relevant skills that can contribute to the internship. Experience in research, analytical work, or any related field will be beneficial but is not a strict requirement.

Languages:
Fluency in either English or French is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

• Interns will receive a monthly stipend as per UNICEF regulations, but there is no expectation of employment following the internship. Candidates must provide a valid medical certificate upon arrival, and UNICEF will not cover health insurance or other privileges. Interns are expected to adhere to the office hours and will benefit from workspace and internet access. Evaluation of the internship will involve weekly reports that contribute to a final assessment, leading to the issuance of an internship certificate.
