Job Overview:
The Education Officer position is crucial for supporting the implementation of the work plan for the years 2026-2
  • Reporting to the Education Specialist, the Officer will provide professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for Inclusive Education and Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs/projects. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from development planning to the delivery of results, ensuring that the programs are effectively managed and executed. The Officer will be involved in various technical and administrative tasks, contributing to the overall success of the programs aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for children. The position is fixed-term until September 30, 2027, indicating a commitment to long-term projects and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Education Officer will be responsible for several key duties, including:
  • Supporting the development and planning of Inclusive Education and ECD programs, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic goals.
  • Managing and monitoring program implementation, tracking progress towards results, and making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
  • Providing technical and operational support to ensure effective program delivery, including capacity building for local partners.
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to foster collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Engaging in innovation and knowledge management to enhance program effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Contributing to the overall capacity building of staff and partners involved in the implementation of education programs.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in fields such as Education, Public Administration, Public Health, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development, Child Development, Family Studies, or other related areas. Additionally, candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant work experience in Education, Social Development, Development Planning, Early Childhood, Program Management, or similar fields. Strong skills in program planning, results monitoring, partnership building, knowledge management, capacity building, and innovation are essential for success in this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates are required to have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in relevant fields such as Education, Public Administration, Public Health, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development, Child Development, Family Studies, or other related disciplines. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of educational programs and their impact on children's development.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in areas such as Education, Social Development, Development Planning, Early Childhood, and Program Management. This experience should ideally include work in development contexts, particularly in fragile settings and humanitarian situations, to ensure that the candidate is well-equipped to handle the challenges associated with implementing educational programs in diverse environments.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and Chinese is mandatory for this position, with candidates expected to demonstrate fluent communication skills in both languages. Additionally, knowledge of another official UN language (such as Arabic, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered desirable, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with a broader range of stakeholders and communities.
