Job Overview:
The position involves serving as a member of the UNICEF Audit Advisory Committee (AAC), which is an independent committee that advises the UNICEF director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Executive Director on governance, risk management, financial management, internal control, accountability, and audits. Members are expected to bring a wealth of experience from public or private sectors, particularly in areas such as finance, accounting, risk management, and organizational governance. Members will also need to understand the implications of digital transformation and artificial intelligence within the context of UNICEF's work, as these areas are becoming increasingly important in managing risks and opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Members of the AAC will be responsible for advising on various aspects of UNICEF's governance and financial management. This includes reviewing and providing insights on internal audits, evaluations, and external audits. They will also be involved in discussions regarding risk management strategies and the effectiveness of internal controls. Participation in three annual meetings at UNICEF Headquarters in New York is required, along with potential virtual meetings. Members will need to stay informed about developments in the UN system and contribute to discussions on ethical standards and accountability frameworks. Additionally, they will be expected to provide guidance on the strategic direction of UNICEF's financial practices and ensure compliance with international standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess senior leadership experience in governance, finance, or risk management. A strong understanding of the UN system and international organizations is essential. Experience in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and data governance is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values, and have a proven track record in organizational management and accountability. The ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment and contribute to discussions on complex issues is crucial.

Educational Background:
A relevant advanced degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or equivalent are highly desirable. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their expertise in governance and financial management.

Experience:
Candidates should have extensive experience in senior leadership roles, ideally with at least 10 years of relevant experience in governance, risk management, or financial oversight. Experience working with international organizations or in a global context is preferred. Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities presented by emerging technologies is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional UN languages such as French or Spanish is considered an asset, as it enhances communication within the diverse UNICEF environment.

Additional Notes:
This is a voluntary position with no remuneration, although UNICEF will cover travel costs and provide a daily subsistence allowance for in-person meetings. The contract duration starts on 1 September 2026 for a term of three years, which may be renewable once at the discretion of the Executive Director.
