Job Overview:
The UNICEF GSSC is seeking a dynamic individual with expertise in knowledge management to support the development and maintenance of knowledge assets that are accurate, accessible, and integrated into existing knowledge systems and AI tools. This role is crucial for ensuring that knowledge management practices are effectively implemented within the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for both maintaining existing materials and creating updated content in collaboration with technical counterparts. This position requires a proactive approach to knowledge asset management, content development, and coordination, as well as system integration and maintenance. Stakeholder engagement is also a key aspect of this role, as the individual will need to work closely with various teams to ensure that knowledge management practices align with organizational goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities for this position include:
  • Knowledge Asset Management: Overseeing the management of knowledge assets to ensure they are accurate, accessible, and effectively utilized within the organization.
  • Content Development & Coordination: Collaborating with technical counterparts to develop and update content that meets the needs of various stakeholders.
  • System Integration & Maintenance: Ensuring that knowledge management systems are integrated and maintained effectively to support organizational operations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engaging with various stakeholders to promote knowledge management practices and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Training and Support: Providing training and support to staff on knowledge management tools and practices to enhance their effectiveness in utilizing these resources.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Assessing the effectiveness of knowledge management initiatives and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Reporting: Preparing reports on knowledge management activities and outcomes to inform decision-making processes.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • Completion of secondary education is required, with professional or university-level courses in Communication; Knowledge Management is considered an asset.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in Knowledge Management and Content Development, Human Centered Design, Information Management, Digital Knowledge Platforms, and/or Customer Support is required.
  • Solid computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email/internet, and familiarity with knowledge management platforms and content management systems is essential.
  • Experience in Communications, Media, Learning & Development is highly desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including drafting and editing of technical content, are desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel is desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes the completion of secondary education, with additional professional or university-level courses in Communication being required. Knowledge Management courses are considered an asset, indicating a preference for candidates who have specialized training in this area.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of seven years of relevant experience in Knowledge Management and Content Development. This experience should encompass areas such as Human Centered Design, Information Management, Digital Knowledge Platforms, and Customer Support. The role demands a solid understanding of knowledge management practices and the ability to apply them effectively within an organizational context.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, French, Russian, Spanish, or Chinese) or a local language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse environment.

Additional Notes:
This position is open to nationals of Hungary or EU/Schengen countries, or individuals with a valid long-term Hungarian residence and work permits. Temporary and sponsored permits are not accepted. The UNICEF GSSC does not facilitate MFA accreditation for locally recruited staff.
