Job Overview:
The Protection Assistant will work under the management of the Protection Team Leader and closely coordinate with the protection team to implement a range of field-based activities aligned with Protection Information principles and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The role involves conducting individual interviews, facilitating focus group discussions, engaging with the community, and identifying individuals who require immediate assistance. The Protection Assistant will also support the development of protection monitoring information sharing products and provide essential protection services, including information provision, psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support, and case management. Building and maintaining strong relationships with community members and beneficiaries is crucial for the success of this role, as is the ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of the protection environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: conducting effective protection monitoring activities and assessments as per the work plan; maintaining an updated understanding of the protection context in the operational areas; monitoring and analyzing trends related to the protection situation; assisting in the development of protection monitoring products; implementing protection assessments in accordance with international standards; participating in rapid assessments to identify protection concerns; ensuring the highest level of access to services; engaging with community members to promote safety and dignity; representing DRC to various stakeholders; contributing to coordination efforts with other sectors; and complying with internal policies and directives related to logistics and finance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 1 year of professional experience in humanitarian interventions, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programming, human rights, civil society, communication, or community development, preferably with an international humanitarian organization. Additionally, candidates should have experience in data collection, research, or analysis, strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to document and analyze protection data effectively. Familiarity with international protection and human rights legal standards is also essential, along with a strong cultural awareness and sensitivity to work with diverse population groups, including vulnerable migrants and refugees.

Educational Background:
A University Degree in social sciences, humanitarian affairs, development, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the protection needs of affected populations.

Experience:
The position requires at least 1 year of relevant professional experience in the humanitarian sector, particularly in areas related to protection, community development, or mental health and psychosocial support. Candidates should demonstrate a proven capacity to engage with communities and stakeholders effectively, as well as experience in identifying and responding to the needs of vulnerable individuals and groups.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English is mandatory for this role. Knowledge of French and other languages is considered an asset, enhancing the ability to communicate with diverse populations and stakeholders in the field.
