Job Overview: The position involves supporting the Forestry Division at FAO, specifically within the Forest Products and Bioeconomy Team (NFOPD) and the Forest Livelihoods Team (NFOS). The incumbent will play a vital role in organizing key events, managing program portfolios, and contributing to reporting processes. This role is essential for ensuring that the teams can effectively promote sustainable forest management and enhance forest-based livelihoods. Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the supervision of the technical unit leaders. Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the organization of significant events such as the ACSFI 67th Session, COFO28, and UNFF21, which involves participant registration, preparation of agendas and documents, and logistical arrangements.
Providing operational support to the NFOP and NFOS program portfolios by maintaining work plans, timelines, and tracking deliverables to ensure timely execution of tasks.
Contributing to reporting and briefing processes by preparing summaries and supporting inputs in accordance with FAO standards.
Maintaining and updating program, event, and content tracking tools (e.g., Excel) to facilitate monitoring, reporting, and knowledge management.
Supporting the update and verification of website and internal platform content using FAO systems, and aiding in internal coordination and knowledge sharing through meetings and digital workflows.
Performing additional duties as required, including coordinating and managing the organization of key events, developing and managing work plans, liaising with internal teams and external partners, compiling and reviewing inputs for periodic reporting, and overseeing web and internal platform content management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: For Consultants: An advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Innovation, International Relations, or another field relevant to the work of the Organization. Alternatively, a first-level degree and two additional years of relevant experience may be considered. For PSA Subscribers: A university degree (or technical degree/certificate) from an institution recognized by the IAU/UNESCO in a relevant field. Additionally, candidates should have at least 1 year of relevant experience in Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Innovation, International Relations, or any field pertinent to the Organization's work. A working knowledge (level C) of English is also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Innovation, International Relations, or a related field from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO. For those applying as PSA Subscribers, a university degree or technical degree/certificate in a relevant field is necessary. Candidates with a first-level degree may also be considered if they possess two additional years of relevant experience.
