Job Overview: The Protection Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective planning, implementation, and follow-up of protection case management activities. The role also involves supporting the implementation of protection monitoring, individual protection assistance, and protection case management activities, making it a vital position within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure the quality of planning, implementation, and follow-up of all technical aspects for protection case management activities.
Contribute to program planning, monitoring, and evaluation processes to ensure quality service delivery and impact measurement.
Liaise with information management staff to maintain accurate management of data records and databases/trackers, and M&E matrix.
Regularly accompany the team on field visits to provide support and guidance and monitor the quality of protection activities.
Lead the team in daily protection activities, including the identification of vulnerable individuals, provision of services to project participants, and managing the referral process.
Ensure that protection monitoring reports reflect issues faced by all community members and are representative of the situation on the ground.
Support the implementation of protection monitoring, individual protection assistance, and protection case management activities.
Analyze and integrate information from a wide range of sources to inform protection strategies and interventions.
Maintain knowledge of international standards and protection fundamental concepts and guiding principles.
Required Qualifications:
Experience working directly with affected or local communities within an international or local organization in a humanitarian context.
Previous experience in complex and volatile contexts.
Experience in conducting protection, monitoring, case management, or other protection-related activities.
Basic knowledge or interest in understanding international standards and protection fundamental concepts and guiding principles.
Ability to analyze and integrate information from various sources.
Proficiency in IT tools, including the MS Office package, internet, and email.
Sufficient working knowledge of English is mandatory.
Educational Background: A relevant degree in social sciences, international relations, humanitarian studies, or a related field is preferred. Additional certifications or training in protection, humanitarian response, or related areas would be advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in protection-related roles, particularly in humanitarian settings. Experience in case management, monitoring, and working with vulnerable populations is essential. Familiarity with the challenges faced in complex and volatile contexts is also required.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Myanmar would be considered an asset, as it would facilitate better communication with community members and enhance the effectiveness of protection activities.
