Job Overview:
The position of Online UN Volunteer is integral to the WHO Health Emergencies Programme (WHE), which focuses on preparing for and managing health emergencies that threaten global health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security. The volunteer will support the operationalization of the Asia Pacific Community of Practice on Community Resilience and Protection (AP-CP-CoRP), which aims to enhance community engagement and resilience in health emergencies. The role involves setting up and organizing the Hive webspace, onboarding members, monitoring engagement, and serving as a focal point for inquiries. The volunteer will play a crucial role in facilitating communication and collaboration among stakeholders, ensuring that community interests are prioritized in health emergency responses.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online UN Volunteer will be responsible for several key tasks:
  • Setting up and organizing the Hive webspace, including creating sections, folders, and managing access permissions to facilitate CoP activities.
  • Onboarding nominated AP-CP-CoRP members onto the platform, which includes communicating with them, guiding them through the onboarding process, and representing the Secretariat.
  • Monitoring member engagement and activities on the platform, moderating discussions, and flagging any significant interactions or inquiries to the technical focal point.
  • Acting as the primary contact for AP-CP-CoRP members regarding platform-related inquiries and requests for assistance throughout the assignment.
  • Reviewing the platform's monthly performance metrics and suggesting improvements or new features to enhance member engagement and overall user experience.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Online UN Volunteer position should possess strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. They should have experience in managing online platforms or communities, with a good understanding of digital communication tools. Familiarity with health emergency preparedness and community engagement strategies is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.

Educational Background:
A background in public health, social sciences, communications, or a related field is preferred for this position. Candidates should have a solid understanding of health systems and community engagement principles, as well as experience in working with international organizations or NGOs.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have prior experience in volunteer roles or internships related to health emergencies, community engagement, or digital platform management. Experience working in multicultural environments and with diverse stakeholders is advantageous, as is familiarity with the operations of international organizations such as WHO.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within WHO. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the South-East Asia Region, such as Hindi or Bengali, would be considered an asset, enhancing the ability to engage with a broader range of community members and stakeholders.
