Job Overview: The Platform Owner position within the ITD Digital Lending and Corporate Unit (ITDAI LC) of the IT Department at the IMF is a critical role that involves overseeing a wide range of IT applications utilized by the Language Services Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management of IT products and platforms, ensuring that they meet the needs of the organization. This includes managing enhancements, system integrations, and the delivery of IT development and support services. The role requires a deep understanding of large language models (LLMs) and computer-aided translation/interpretation tools, which are essential for the effective functioning of the Language Services Division. The Platform Owner will work closely with the Business Product Owner and other stakeholders to shape policies and strategies, prioritize product stacks, and translate business strategies into technical specifications for ITD consumers. This position is pivotal in ensuring that the IMF's language services are efficient, effective, and aligned with the organization's goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Platform Owner will lead the development and support of strategies, architecture, and programs for complex products and platforms, ensuring they align with the requirements of both internal and external customers. Key responsibilities include managing Language Services applications and technologies, implementing and supporting solutions such as Translation Management Systems and Computer Assisted Translation tools. The Platform Owner will execute the 'Two in the Box' product/platform management concept, guiding the business owner and stakeholders through the product lifecycle process. They will develop roadmaps outlining business capability needs, create resource and budget plans, and provide leadership to integrated product/platform teams, including business analysts and developers. The role also involves managing design policies and standards within business change programs, ensuring stable architecture, and maintaining regular communication with project stakeholders. The Platform Owner will assess resource capacity, prioritize needs, and coordinate with other IT teams to ensure timely feature delivery. Additionally, they will prepare business and technical cases, oversee the production of deliverables, and advise on IT standards and compliance. The Platform Owner will contribute to software process improvement initiatives, ensuring that the organization continuously enhances its software development practices.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field, or a bachelor's degree with significant relevant experience. A minimum of four years of experience as a Platform Owner or Technical Lead in software development is required, along with at least two years of experience with Language Services applications and Computer Assisted Translation tools. Proficiency in cloud-based technologies, particularly MS Azure Translation Services, is preferred. Experience with Service Management processes and tools such as ServiceNow is also essential. Preferred certifications include PMP, Six Sigma Green Belt, and ITIL v.3 or v.
Ideal candidates should demonstrate strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage complex projects effectively.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field. Alternatively, candidates with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and extensive professional experience will also be considered. The educational qualifications should provide a solid foundation in technical concepts and practices relevant to IT product and platform management.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience in a similar role, specifically as a Platform Owner or Technical Lead in software development. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing platforms and delivering IT solutions, with at least two years of experience in Language Services applications and Computer Assisted Translation tools. Experience with cloud technologies and Service Management processes is also necessary to ensure the candidate can effectively fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, given the international nature of the IMF and its operations. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the IMF's member countries, would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to the organization's language services.
Additional Notes: The selected candidate will be offered a regular staff appointment if they are a current staff member, maintaining their open-ended status. If the candidate is a contractual employee, they will receive a Term staff appointment.
