Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position at UNCTAD is designed to provide students or recent graduates with practical experience in the workings of the United Nations. Interns are expected to work full-time, five days a week, for a minimum of three months, with the possibility of extension up to six months. The internship will primarily take place in Geneva, although remote work options are available. Interns will be involved in various tasks under the supervision of the Economic Affairs Officer and the Head of the Enterprise Branch. They will assist in organizing sessions, supporting outreach activities, conducting research, and preparing materials for events. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain insight into international standards of accounting and reporting, as well as to develop skills in research, communication, and project management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will have a range of responsibilities, including:
  • Assisting in the organization of the forty-third session of the Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting (ISAR).
  • Supporting outreach activities to expand the ISAR network, including managing social media platforms like Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Conducting research on international accounting and reporting standards applicable to both public and private sectors.
  • Assisting with the Development Account Project 16th Tranche activities.
  • Helping to prepare for the ISAR Honours 2026, which includes organizing the ceremony, developing social media campaigns, and creating relevant photo and video materials.
  • Observing and adhering to all applicable UN rules and regulations, ensuring that all materials produced during the internship are shared with the receiving departments.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and impartiality in all communications and interactions related to the internship.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the UN internship programme, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Additionally, candidates should be computer literate in standard software applications, demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, and possess the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. No prior work experience is necessary, but a relevant field of study is required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in their final year of a bachelor's degree, or enrolled in or have completed a master's or Ph.D. programme. Proof of enrollment or completion of the relevant degree must be provided during the application process. The educational background should be closely related to the internship's focus area, which includes trade, economics, accounting, or related fields.

Experience:
No prior professional work experience is required for this internship. However, candidates should have relevant academic training or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship. Languages:
