Job Overview:
The intern will support the Communications team within the UNEP FI Secretariat, contributing to various communication efforts aimed at raising awareness and promoting sustainable finance. The role involves assisting with the writing, editing, and design of communications content, managing the UNEP FI website, and engaging in social media outreach. The intern will also monitor web, email, and social media analytics, coordinate activities related to key publication launches, and assist with communications for virtual events and webinars. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a global organization focused on environmental issues and sustainable finance, providing valuable experience in communications and stakeholder engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's daily responsibilities may vary but will generally include: assisting with the writing, editing, and design of newsletters, social media posts, web content, articles, and other targeted communications; managing day-to-day updates and content development for the UNEP FI website; creating proposals for social media campaigns and assisting with social media outreach; monitoring web, email, and social media analytics, presenting findings, and formulating actionable takeaways; coordinating activities related to key publication launches; supporting communications for virtual events and webinars; and tracking media coverage of UNEP FI and its initiatives. The intern will play a crucial role in enhancing UNEP FI's communication strategies and outreach efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Candidates should have a background in communications, journalism, environmental studies, development studies, economics, business administration, or finance, with some experience in communications. Proof of enrollment or graduation date is required if selected for this position.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be a student in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program. It is essential to provide proof of enrollment or graduation date as part of the application process. The educational background should be closely related to the internship's focus area, particularly in communications or environmental studies.

Experience:
No professional work experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. However, candidates should demonstrate relevant coursework, training, or skills that would benefit the United Nations during their internship. Experience in communications or related fields is advantageous but not mandatory.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this internship. Knowledge of French, which is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, is also necessary. Additionally, knowledge of another UN language is desirable, enhancing the candidate's profile for the position.

Additional Notes:
The internship is expected to last for 6 months and is not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. Candidates who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization.
