Job Overview: The Associate in Green Partnerships plays a crucial role within the Green Partnerships team, which is part of the EBRD's Donor Partnerships department. This position is pivotal in establishing and managing effective relationships with both bilateral and multilateral donors to advance climate and environmental action. The Associate will work closely with various EBRD departments to identify new funding opportunities that align with the Bank's strategic initiatives. Additionally, the Associate will manage a portfolio of projects supported by climate donors, ensuring that donor funds are utilized efficiently and in compliance with EBRD policies and procedures. This role requires a proactive approach to resource mobilization and stakeholder engagement, as well as a strong understanding of the global climate landscape.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate will be responsible for a range of duties including:
Resource Mobilisation & Stakeholder Engagement: - Analyzing and assessing donor priorities to identify funding opportunities from multilateral and bilateral donors. - Contributing to the establishment and maintenance of donor relationships while pursuing fundraising efforts. - Supporting the development of funding proposals and contributing to funding negotiations with donors. - Facilitating the drafting and signing of contribution agreements. - Engaging with other International Financial Institutions, international development agencies, and relevant stakeholders. - Participating in internal and external meetings, donor coordination, board meetings, and policy discussions.
Resource Management: - Supporting the management and implementation of a portfolio of projects, monitoring progress against established indicators, milestones, and targets. - Ensuring effective financial management of donor funding, including the allocation and tracking of financial resources. - Revising donor policies and procedures and assisting teams in their implementation. - Collaborating with internal teams to ensure alignment between donor requirements and Bank procedures. - Contributing to the development of effective communication tools regarding the Bank's donor-funded work and preparing donor reporting at both fund and project levels.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in economics, finance, international development, environmental and social sciences, or a related discipline. Additionally, candidates should have substantial experience in managing a portfolio of donor-funded activities within a multilateral or international context, particularly concerning climate and environmental issues. A proven track record in establishing bilateral and multilateral donor relationships and fundraising efforts in the climate sector is essential. Familiarity with the global climate debate and climate architecture, especially regarding multilateral climate donors such as the Green Climate Fund, Global Environment Facility, and Climate Investment Funds, is also required. Experience with financial management systems, such as SAP, is desired, along with strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Educational Background: The position requires a Master's degree in a relevant field such as economics, finance, international development, environmental and social sciences, or a closely related discipline. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of climate finance and donor engagement effectively.
Experience: Candidates should have significant experience in managing donor-funded activities, particularly in a multilateral or international context focused on climate and environmental issues. This includes a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with bilateral and multilateral donors, as well as experience in fundraising efforts related to climate initiatives. Familiarity with the global climate landscape and the ability to navigate complex financial management systems are also important.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, given the international nature of the work and the need for effective communication with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the EBRD's operational regions would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with a broader range of partners and stakeholders.
