Job Overview:
The Associate Banker position within the Natural Resources (NR) team at EBRD involves a multifaceted role that encompasses the origination, structuring, execution, and monitoring of debt and equity transactions across the Bank's operational countries. The NR team is dedicated to supporting clients throughout the natural resources value chain, which includes critical subsectors such as mining and metals, mining-related services, and low-carbon investments aimed at facilitating the energy transition. The Associate Banker will play a crucial role in contributing to the growth of NR activities, ensuring that projects align with the Bank's strategic priorities. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Banker will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:
  • Participating as a project team member in transactions, contributing to all aspects of project due diligence, structuring, negotiation, and execution.
  • Overseeing specific due diligence work streams assigned by the operation leader, ensuring quality and depth meet the Bank's standards.
  • Preparing internal project documentation such as approval project memoranda, financial models, and presentations.
  • Implementing and monitoring assigned projects, ensuring compliance with project agreements and Bank procedures.
  • Preparing comprehensive monitoring reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Assisting with marketing and business development efforts, including screening project proposals and identifying executable investments.
  • Providing guidance and support to junior team members as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree, with a Master's degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable. Strong quantitative and numerical skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret financial information and design financial models. Candidates should have credit analysis skills and a solid understanding of local and international accounting principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet packages is required, along with excellent written and oral communication skills in English. A good command of the local language is an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field. A Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred, as it demonstrates a higher level of expertise and understanding of complex financial concepts. Professional certifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are also highly regarded and can enhance a candidate's qualifications for this role.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant financial industry experience, ideally from an investment or commercial bank, private equity firm, asset management firm, or auditing/financial consulting firm that operates to international standards. Extensive practical experience in participating in debt and equity transactions throughout the entire project life cycle is essential. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to manage complex financial projects and contribute effectively to team efforts.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. A good command of the local language is considered an advantage, as it can facilitate better communication with local stakeholders and enhance project outcomes.
