Job Overview: The Principal Sustainable Transport Specialist - Electric Mobility will play a crucial role in supporting the development of sustainable transport projects, particularly focusing on electric mobility and low carbon transport initiatives. This position will involve working at both national and urban levels, contributing to the EBRD Green Cities Programme. The role encompasses a wide range of transport sectors, integrating electric mobility and electrification, including road and rail infrastructure, urban transport, and related facilities such as ports and airports. The Specialist will be responsible for promoting decarbonisation and climate action through investments and actions that support fleet electrification and modal shifts. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including transport specialists, consultants, and national authorities, to ensure coherent support for sustainable transport and electric mobility development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Sustainable Transport Specialist - Electric Mobility will be accountable for the preparation and implementation of initiatives related to sustainable transport and electric mobility. Key responsibilities include: supporting operation leaders in business development and investment preparation; developing requirements for policies and practices to support project investments; sharing experiences from leading cities in sustainable transport; assessing market opportunities for sustainable transport and e-mobility; evaluating hybrid technologies and their applicability; identifying trends in digital technology solutions; contributing to national policies for low carbon transport modes; reviewing and providing technical support to policies and plans; preparing project documentation; leading innovative projects and strategies; and engaging with external forums and associations to align with the bank's interests.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in engineering, management, or a related field, along with relevant experience in sustainable transport, urban transport, and electric mobility. A strong understanding of the transport, urban sustainability, energy, and environmental challenges in the EBRD region is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate computer literacy, particularly in modeling and Excel, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with proficiency in another language being advantageous. Strong influencing, negotiation, and relationship-building skills are required, along with the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree is preferred, ideally in engineering, management, or a related subject. Relevant experience in sustainable transport and electric mobility is also highly valued, as is a solid understanding of the challenges faced in the transport and urban sustainability sectors.
Experience: Extensive experience in planning, preparing, implementing, and operating transport projects and systems is required. Candidates should have a broad range of experience across various sector applications in infrastructure and sustainable transport, including familiarity with the role of international financing institutions. Proven project management skills and a track record as a technical specialist or team manager are essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in another language of the Bank, such as French, Russian, or Arabic, is considered a strong asset. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in multicultural environments.

The role may involve working across all countries of the Bank, with a focus on specific regions or countries as needed.
