Solidarités International (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization that has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters for over 40 years. The organization focuses on meeting vital needs such as access to water, food, and shelter. SI is particularly committed to combating diseases related to unsafe water, which is the leading cause of mortality worldwide. The organization operates in 26 countries and employs a total of 3,200 people, including expatriates, national staff, permanent headquarters employees, and a few volunteers. SI has been active in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since 2001, addressing humanitarian needs in areas affected by conflict and natural disasters while also contributing to the fight against epidemics. SI's interventions integrate a protection dimension, either transversally or through specific actions implemented with partners. The programs cover both emergency responses and recovery and development activities in stabilized areas, reflecting the mission's strategy to maintain a strong capacity for emergency response while developing sustainable solutions to structural issues affecting populations in the eastern part of the country. The mission currently consists of a coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team based in Goma and three operational bases in North Kivu, Ituri, and South Kivu.

Job Overview:
The position of Missions involves managing various proposals and coordinating teams and stakeholders to produce high-quality project documents. The role is critical in ensuring the submission of reports according to donor deadlines, actively monitoring funding opportunities, and producing communication content that meets donor commitments while enhancing the visibility of the mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The position requires strategic thinking to maintain activities in North Kivu amidst shifting funding priorities and to strengthen support for programmatic strategy. The successful candidate will face challenges such as limited human resources in newly opened operational bases and the need to advocate for increased budget allocations for support functions. The role is essential for ensuring that the mission can effectively respond to humanitarian needs while navigating a complex and often volatile security context.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Missions position include coordinating the submission of reports in line with donor deadlines, actively monitoring funding opportunities, and identifying relevant proposals aligned with country priorities. The role also involves producing high-quality project documents, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders, and advocating for increased budget allocations for support functions. The candidate will need to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain a strong understanding of donor guidelines, and ensure compliance with reporting mechanisms. Additionally, the position requires strategic reflection on maintaining activities in North Kivu and coordinating with various teams to ensure harmonized project documentation. The candidate will also need to navigate security constraints and logistical challenges while ensuring that humanitarian access remains possible in sensitive areas.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree (bachelor's or master's) or a postgraduate diploma in project management, international development, social sciences, humanitarian studies, or a related field, or have equivalent professional experience in grant management within the humanitarian sector. A minimum of one year of experience in similar positions is required, along with strong external and internal communication skills. Experience with Solidarités International is considered an asset. Candidates should have a good understanding of donor reporting mechanisms and guidelines, as well as technical knowledge of food security and water, hygiene, and sanitation activities, although this is not essential. Strong analytical, writing, and synthesis skills are necessary, along with organizational and prioritization abilities to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree at the bachelor's or master's level in relevant fields such as project management, international development, social sciences, humanitarian studies, or a related discipline. Alternatively, candidates may qualify through equivalent professional experience in grant management within the humanitarian sector. A postgraduate diploma in a relevant field may also be considered beneficial for applicants.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of one year of relevant experience in similar roles, particularly in grant management within the humanitarian sector. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of donor guidelines and reporting mechanisms, as well as experience in managing projects in challenging environments. Previous experience with Solidarités International is advantageous but not mandatory. The ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously is essential for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in French is essential for this position, while proficiency in English is desirable. Candidates should possess strong communication skills in both languages to effectively engage with stakeholders and produce high-quality documentation. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of the local population and communities served by the organization.

Additional Notes:
The position is a salaried role with a gross monthly salary starting from EUR 1925, which includes a base salary of EUR 1750 plus a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 800 is provided. Solidarités International covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. The organization implements a work and leave alternation system, allowing for 7 working days off for every three months of effective work, with USD 850 allocated for these breaks. Expatriates benefit from comprehensive health insurance covering medical, surgical, dental, and ophthalmological expenses, as well as repatriation costs. Vaccination and malaria treatment expenses are reimbursed. Living conditions in Goma have deteriorated due to security issues, but housing remains good, with private rooms and bathrooms available in guest houses, access to varied and quality food, and opportunities for social engagement. The security situation is dynamic, with a curfew currently set at 10 PM on weekdays, and regular field missions are conducted in various regions.
