Job Overview: The Global Health & Nutrition Technical Advisor position is a senior role within Relief International’s Performance, Quality, and Technical Excellence team. This position is designed for individuals who can provide expert leadership and technical authority in health and nutrition programming across various country contexts. The advisor will ensure that health and nutrition interventions are technically sound, relevant, and effective, particularly in complex humanitarian settings. The role requires a high degree of autonomy, where the advisor will apply advanced technical judgment to address non-routine and high-risk programmatic challenges. The advisor will shape technical approaches, standards, and tools while advising both country and global stakeholders. The position emphasizes the importance of evidence-based programming that is contextually appropriate and compliant with international standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Global Health and Nutrition Advisor will have several key responsibilities, including: serving as the senior technical authority for health and nutrition within Relief International, leading expert judgment and decision-making on complex, high-risk programmatic issues; developing, maintaining, and overseeing global health and nutrition standards, frameworks, and tools to ensure alignment with international guidance; acting as a technical escalation point to diagnose and resolve complex implementation, quality, compliance, and risk-related challenges across country programs; ensuring program quality and participant safety through data-driven analysis, technical risk assessments, and quality assurance reviews; providing matrix leadership and capacity strengthening to country teams through mentoring, advanced training, and communities of practice; and contributing senior technical expertise to design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, business development, and external representation to strengthen donor alignment and organizational learning.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for this position should possess an advanced degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Medicine, or a related field. They should have significant professional experience providing senior-level technical leadership in health and nutrition programming within humanitarian and/or development contexts. A strong knowledge of primary health care, nutrition, and health systems strengthening is essential. Additionally, candidates should have experience supporting program implementation and providing technical assistance to field teams, familiarity with MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) systems, and experience in capacity building and mentoring multidisciplinary teams. The ability to translate evidence into practical program guidance, along with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, is also required. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, as well as a commitment to quality, learning, and continuous improvement, are essential attributes for this role.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced degree in a relevant field such as Public Health, Nutrition, or Medicine. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of health and nutrition programming in various contexts, particularly in humanitarian settings.
Experience: The position requires significant professional experience, specifically in providing senior-level technical leadership in health and nutrition programming. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in humanitarian and/or development contexts, demonstrating their ability to navigate complex programmatic challenges and deliver effective health and nutrition interventions.
Languages: While the primary language for this position is English, a working level of French and/or Arabic is desirable. Proficiency in these languages can enhance communication and collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders in various operational contexts.
Additional Notes: This is a full-time, open-ended position with a salary of approximately £47,000 per annum, negotiable based on experience.
