Job Overview:
The Finance Officer position is crucial for supporting the Senior Accountant in managing the financial aspects of the mission. The role involves ensuring accurate financial management and compliance with SI’s standards and donor requirements. The Finance Officer is responsible for maintaining the cash box and cash/bank books, monitoring and archiving accounting documents, and ensuring the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of the cash box. This position also includes checking the accounting documents of SI’s partners and providing feedback on any discrepancies or incomplete documents. The Finance Officer plays a vital role in the financial operations of the organization, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely, which is essential for the smooth functioning of the mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance Officer's duties include managing the accounting for the Coordination Office, which involves controlling petty cash, recording transactions, preparing monthly accounts reports, and conducting regular cash counts. The officer is responsible for managing financial documents related to payments and advances, ensuring timely clearance, and verifying supporting documents. Additionally, the Finance Officer will check partner invoices, monitor compliance with financial reporting standards, and assist in cash forecasting. The role also requires coordinating cash distribution with Money Transfer Agents, reconciling invoices and receipts, and providing general support to base teams on financial matters. The Finance Officer will also attend finance workshops and collaborate with other departments for financial forecasting, covering tasks during the manager's absence as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. Additionally, a minimum of two years of experience in the humanitarian sector and a similar position is required. The role demands strong technical skills in accountancy, analytical skills, and proficiency in relevant accounting software. Advanced Excel skills are also necessary for this position. Furthermore, candidates should demonstrate advanced communication and time management skills, along with the ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and manage pressure effectively. Strong computer skills are essential for the role.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. This foundational education is critical for understanding the complexities of financial management within a humanitarian context, ensuring that the Finance Officer can effectively support the Senior Accountant and contribute to the overall financial health of the mission.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have at least two years of relevant experience in the humanitarian sector, specifically in a financial role. This experience should include familiarity with accounting practices, financial reporting, and compliance with donor requirements. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing financial transactions and supporting financial operations in a similar context.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication within the organization and with partners, as well as for understanding and processing financial documents that may be in either language.
