Job Overview: The System Level Expert (Architecture and System Engineering) position is pivotal within the Engineering Division of the Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (MUAC). The selected candidate will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance in the design and modernization of systems and their architecture. This role requires a deep understanding of system integration, scalability, and maintainability, ensuring compliance with safety, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, quality, and regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle. The expert will collaborate with various stakeholders, including internal teams, external suppliers, and end-users, to align on project objectives and deliverables. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the System Level Expert include:
Providing technical expertise and contributions to the design and modernization of systems and architecture.
Specifying a coherent set of testable technical requirements at the system level based on various inputs.
Analyzing and specifying non-functional requirements to identify areas for improvement.
Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment on standards, project objectives, and deliverables.
Identifying architectural risks and defining mitigation strategies.
Preparing regulatory compliance justifications for technical systems.
Coordinating certification activities for ATM/ANS equipment.
Defining and maintaining system-level technical specifications for externally developed solutions.
Analyzing change proposals and ensuring coherent implementation. 1

Carrying out any other tasks in line with the main purpose of the job.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess relevant third-level studies in fields such as Engineering or Computer Science, meeting the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 6, accompanied by at least four years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, candidates with EQF Level 7 qualifications must have at least three years of relevant experience. Internal candidates can refer to the intranet for equivalency checks. Additionally, candidates should have experience in specifying and documenting system requirements, architecting complex systems, and managing the integrated lifecycle of user and system requirements. Knowledge of modern IT technologies and architectural principles is essential, along with technical drafting skills in English. Experience in ATM systems is considered a strong asset.

Languages: Proficiency in English at level C1 is mandatory for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the Agency. Candidates should possess strong communication skills in English, enabling them to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders. Knowledge of French is beneficial but not required.
Additional Notes: The position is classified as an Administrator role at job levels AD6-AD9, with a duration of five years, subject to renewal or conversion under specific conditions. The selected candidate must reside in Maastricht or a nearby area to fulfill job responsibilities effectively. The working arrangement follows a hybrid model, allowing for a combination of onsite and remote work, although full-time remote work is not permitted. Candidates must complete a nine-month probationary period before being established in the post.
