Job Overview:
The AL Project Manager Pharmacist will report to the Operations Manager and play a crucial role in supporting the Atlas Logistique teams in operational planning, implementation, and monitoring of HI/AL’s operational strategy. This position encompasses the management of temperature-controlled storage and transportation of medical supplies, as well as capacity building initiatives. The successful candidate will ensure the quality, effectiveness, and impact of the implemented projects while contributing to the overall management and functioning of the organization in Darfur. The role is vital in ensuring compliance with medical logistics standards and facilitating the distribution of health products in accordance with established regulations and practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operationalization of Medical Logistics Expertise: Ensure compliance of medical logistics facilities for temperature-controlled pharmaceutical storage and distribution of medical supplies according to WHO standards and national regulations. Support the logistics team in selecting and procuring necessary equipment for temperature-sensitive health products. Assist the transport team in identifying appropriate distribution solutions for medicines. Collaborate with the capacity building project manager to develop training programs on medical logistics for partners.
  • Establish and Update the Quality Assurance System: Implement a temperature and humidity monitoring system, raising alerts for any deviations that could affect health product quality. Notify the Project Manager and Headquarters Cold Chain Specialist of any non-compliance with quality standards. Ensure traceability and archiving of temperature records, providing monthly reports on temperature monitoring and compliance with Good Storage and Distribution Practices. Develop and enforce procedures for temperature-controlled storage and transportation, conducting self-inspections and proposing corrective actions as needed. Train the Atlas Logistique team on Good Storage and Distribution Practices.
  • Communication and Representation: Act as the focal point for partners regarding technical, legal, and scientific inquiries related to medicines and medical devices. Address technical issues concerning the cold chain and storage conditions of health products. Contribute to donor reports, including medical logistics data. Represent ATLAS/HI activities in Health and Logistics Clusters regarding medical logistics, transport, and storage of medicines and medical devices.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector, specifically in cold chain storage. A Pharmacist degree is required, with a specialization in humanitarian medical logistics being desirable. Applicants should have a strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations and Good Distribution and Storage Practices. The ability to work effectively under pressure in a context of ongoing insecurity is essential. Candidates should demonstrate patience, creativity, and strong teamwork skills.

Educational Background:
A degree in Pharmacy is mandatory for this position. Additional qualifications or specializations in humanitarian medical logistics will be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's suitability for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical sector, with a focus on cold chain storage. This experience is crucial for ensuring compliance with medical logistics standards and effectively managing the distribution of health products.

Languages:

The salary starts at 2750 € gross per month, depending on experience, with additional benefits including a per diem of 706 € net per month, a hardship allowance of 500 € net per month, 25 paid leave days per year, and a rest and recuperation (R&R) period of 5 days every 8 weeks. Housing will be provided collectively by HI, and if the candidate is a resident of the country, a local package will be offered.
