Job Overview:
The Case Management Assistant position is a critical role within the Danish Refugee Council, specifically designed to support the implementation of case management activities for vulnerable populations in the Sumska Oblast. Under the guidance of the Case Management Team Leader, the assistant will engage in regular field visits, particularly to the Shostka district, dedicating approximately 50% of their time to this task. The primary functions of this role include conducting initial needs assessments for clients, facilitating the case management process, organizing referrals to appropriate services, and ensuring consistent follow-up with clients. The assistant will play a vital role in ensuring that program activities are executed in a timely and high-quality manner, adhering to internal procedures, humanitarian principles, and project objectives. This position requires a proactive approach to addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, ensuring that they receive the necessary support and resources to navigate their challenges effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Case Management Assistant will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties aimed at providing effective case management services to vulnerable populations. Key responsibilities include: conducting thorough client needs assessments to identify specific requirements; developing actionable plans tailored to individual client needs; sharing relevant information with clients and facilitating referrals to other service providers; ensuring consistent follow-up with clients to monitor their progress and address any emerging issues; accompanying clients to various services to enhance their access and support their advocacy efforts; organizing and delivering targeted individual assistance to individuals affected by explosive ordnance; participating in the planning and facilitation of training sessions focused on inclusion, considering factors such as age, gender, and disability; ensuring the provision of cash or in-kind assistance to mitigate protection risks; identifying and monitoring protection risks within the designated area of intervention; collecting both quantitative and qualitative data using various protection monitoring tools; conducting awareness-raising activities to inform stakeholders about DRC’s case management services; and coordinating with other DRC departments to facilitate effective referrals and information sharing. Regular field presence in Shostka is essential to support the implementation of these activities and to foster collaboration with other sectors and partners.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the Case Management Assistant position, candidates must possess a degree in Law, Social Work, or a related field. Proficiency in the Ukrainian language is mandatory, as effective communication with clients is crucial. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong computer skills, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling the assistant to work effectively with vulnerable individuals, colleagues, and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. Candidates must also exhibit the ability to discuss sensitive topics with empathy and professionalism, as well as a high level of personal integrity and a solid understanding of confidentiality and ethical considerations in social work.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Case Management Assistant position includes a degree in Law, Social Work, or a related field. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the legal and social frameworks that govern the rights and needs of vulnerable populations, particularly in the context of displacement and humanitarian assistance.

Experience:
Candidates for the Case Management Assistant role should have a minimum of 1 year of experience in social work or a similar position, preferably within a non-governmental organization (NGO) or international non-governmental organization (INGO). Experience working with internally displaced persons (IDPs) and conflict-affected populations will be considered a significant asset, as it demonstrates an understanding of the unique challenges faced by these groups and the ability to provide tailored support.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement for this position is proficiency in the Ukrainian language, as it is essential for effective communication with clients and stakeholders. Additional Notes:
The Case Management Assistant position is offered on a contract basis for a duration of 3 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and the availability of funding. The position is classified under Band I, and the designated duty station is Sumy. The start date for this role is as soon as possible.
