Job Overview:
The Logistics Team Leader position at NRC Mozambique is a critical role responsible for overseeing logistics activities in the Mueda Field Office. This position requires a strong leader who can ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidelines, and donor requirements while providing quality logistical support for project implementation. The Logistics Team Leader will conduct regular field visits to monitor logistics compliance, provide necessary training, and ensure transparency and accountability in procurement and logistics procedures. The role involves managing daily operational logistics activities, preparing reports, and supporting the administration of resources to achieve project deliverables within set budgets and timelines. The Logistics Team Leader will also be responsible for developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and promoting improvements in the logistics function.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Team Leader will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Ensuring adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines, and donor requirements.
  • Conducting regular field visits for logistics compliance checks and providing necessary training to staff.
  • Leading the logistics team to ensure quality support for project implementation by analyzing logistical data and preparing reports.
  • Managing daily operational logistics activities and supporting resource administration to meet project deliverables.
  • Preparing and developing logistic reports as required by the Area Office and Country Office.
  • Supporting the development of SOPs and ensuring proper filing of all support documents.
  • Coordinating and implementing NRC’s systems for market analyses.
  • Managing fleet operations, including vehicle utilization, maintenance, and reporting of incidents.
  • Overseeing asset management, ensuring compliance with the Logistics Handbook, and conducting physical verification of assets. 1
  • Managing stock, ensuring timely recording of transactions, and maintaining updated stock reports. 1
  • Coordinating with various teams, including program teams, finance, and suppliers, to ensure effective logistics support for project implementation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Logistics Team Leader position must possess the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management within humanitarian sectors.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or related diploma in logistics or supply chain management.
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts, demonstrating the ability to adapt to challenging environments.
  • Knowledge of local private and public services networks in Mozambique.
  • Proficiency in English and Portuguese, both written and verbal, is mandatory.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree or a related diploma in logistics or supply chain management. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of logistics operations and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management, particularly within humanitarian contexts. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing logistics operations effectively and adapting to the challenges posed by complex environments.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and Portuguese is mandatory for this position, as effective communication is crucial for coordinating logistics activities and collaborating with various stakeholders. Additionally, knowledge of local languages such as Makonde, Emacua, Kimuani, and Suaili is considered an added advantage, especially for candidates from Cabo Delgado.
