Job Overview: The internship aims to provide a structured and qualifying professional experience in support of Gender and Adolescence programs, focusing on gender integration, youth participation, and engagement. Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be involved in various tasks, including supporting the integration of gender and adolescent perspectives in programmatic initiatives across different sections, reviewing programmatic documents to enhance the consideration of gender issues, and participating in the documentation of gender integration examples. They will also contribute to the operationalization of commitments from the Girls' Summit and the Dakar Declaration, assist in preparing notes and summaries related to national roadmaps, and collect and analyze information on initiatives aimed at strengthening adolescent leadership and participation. Additionally, the intern will support the organization of activities involving girls' organizations and youth networks, promote meaningful participation mechanisms for adolescents, and contribute to the production of knowledge and programmatic monitoring by preparing analytical notes and participating in the capitalization of best practices and lessons learned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be aged between 18 and 25, with a focus on young women and individuals with disabilities. The internship is designed to be inclusive, promoting gender equality and the inclusion of persons with disabilities. Candidates should be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in social sciences, gender studies, international development, sociology, political science, development economics, public policy, or related fields relevant to gender equality, youth participation, and social development. No professional experience is required, but prior experience through internships, volunteering, or associative engagement is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in gender issues, youth, and adolescent development, possess research, analytical, and writing skills, and be proficient in office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Good communication skills and the ability to work in a multicultural team are essential, along with organizational skills, initiative, and motivation to learn.
Educational Background: Candidates should be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in relevant fields such as social sciences, gender studies, international development, sociology, political science, development economics, or public policy. This educational background should relate to issues of gender equality, youth participation, and social development, providing a strong foundation for the internship role.
Experience: No professional experience is required for this internship. However, any prior experience, such as internships, volunteer work, or involvement in community organizations, will be considered advantageous. The focus is on providing opportunities for young individuals to gain experience and develop their skills in a supportive environment.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, with a good level of English also required. Knowledge of a local language in Guinea is considered an asset, enhancing communication and engagement with local communities and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The internship will be supervised by the Gender and Adolescence Specialist, primarily based in Conakry with potential missions to other regions. The duration of the internship is 13 weeks, and it is a full-time position. UNICEF will cover mission expenses outside the intervention area, including transport and per diem, according to procedures. A monthly stipend will be provided in accordance with UNICEF's policies. The intern is required to have health and accident insurance covering the internship period. They are allowed to take up to 2.5 days off per month for any reason, including medical reasons, with stipends adjusted for absences beyond this quota. The internship is not considered employment, and candidates must not have immediate family members working at UNICEF. This opportunity is reserved for nationals.
