Job Overview: The Senior Assistant for Innovation Programs at WFP's HZERO Hub in Bogota, Colombia, plays a crucial role in supporting the management and execution of innovation, incubation, and acceleration programs. This position is integral to ensuring the operational and administrative implementation of various projects, including the Re-Start initiative. The professional will coordinate hiring processes, manage billing and payments, and facilitate internal processes for seed capital delivery. Additionally, the role involves strengthening partnerships with local allies and supporting communication efforts to raise awareness of innovation projects. The HZERO Hub aims to promote innovative solutions to achieve zero hunger in the region by fostering local ecosystems of innovation in Food Security and Nutrition (FSN). The selected candidate will contribute to the Hub's objectives by ensuring effective program delivery and collaboration with key stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of the Senior Assistant include:
Operational and administrative management of innovation programs: Supporting the planning and execution of incubation and acceleration activities, ensuring compliance with timelines and operational requirements; managing administrative processes related to vendor contracts for events and program activities; assisting in planning and executing calls for proposals and selecting participating projects; tracking invoices, purchase orders, payments, and financial reports associated with program activities; ensuring all program documentation is well-organized and accessible to team members and collaborators.
Inter-area coordination for seed capital delivery: Coordinating with implementing partners and internal WFP teams to ensure timely delivery of seed capital to startups; verifying that beneficiary documents meet Hub guidelines; supporting monitoring of seed capital usage and consolidating reports and indicators.
Territorial relationship management and support for strategic allies: Facilitating coordination with local partners such as chambers of commerce, SENA, and other entities to support operational implementation; maintaining continuous communication with local partners to manage logistics, joint activities, and administrative or operational requirements.
Coordination with the communications team: Assisting the communications team in gathering information, preparing materials, and coordinating visibility activities for innovation projects; contributing data, impact stories, and updates for internal and external content.
Program monitoring and follow-up: Supporting the creation of templates for project work plans and tools for monitoring project progress; assisting in the collection, organization, and systematization of information required for program monitoring and indicator compliance; collaborating in identifying operational needs or risks and supporting improvements in program administration; maintaining updated databases and ensuring consistency in reported information. Additional activities include assisting in drafting concept notes for new innovation programs, acting as a contact point for resolving inquiries and issues related to innovation programs, supporting other tasks as requested by the Hub team, collaborating in seeking funding opportunities, facilitating internal innovation initiatives, and leading the development of experimentation and validation initiatives through technological pilots to enhance WFP operations.
Required Qualifications: The position requires the following qualifications: Completion of secondary education is mandatory, while a university degree in social sciences, design, innovation, entrepreneurship, project management, business administration, development cooperation, or related fields is desirable. Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Proficiency in project management methodologies and innovative approaches is also essential.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed secondary education, with a preference for those holding a university degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, design, innovation, entrepreneurship, project management, business administration, or development cooperation. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of innovation and program management within the humanitarian context.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of proven professional experience is required, including at least 3 years of specific experience in implementing and monitoring projects or programs in development, innovation, entrepreneurship, or humanitarian sectors. Experience in the innovation/entrepreneurship sector, including internships, is valuable. Candidates should also have experience in program monitoring and reporting, as well as in seeking funding and proposal writing.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish, both oral and written, is mandatory. A basic knowledge of English is also required, which will facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The contract duration is for 6 months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and organizational needs. The position is classified at the SC-5 remuneration level.
