Job Overview:
The Evaluation Analyst position at UN Women is crucial for supporting the Independent Evaluation Service (IES) in conducting corporate, institutional, and thematic evaluations and assessments. The role involves promoting the use of evaluation findings, collaborating with UN and other evaluation partners, and ensuring effective deployment of human and financial resources. The Evaluation Analyst will work under the supervision of the Chief of Evaluation, contributing to high-quality evaluations that meet the United Nations Evaluation Group (UNEG) professional standards. This includes applying quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis tools, assisting in evaluation planning, and preparing evaluation budgets and work plans. The position also requires promoting stakeholder ownership and learning, ensuring that evaluation results are integrated into project design and implementation, and supporting the monitoring of management responses to evaluations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the conduct of high-quality independent evaluations that meet UNEG professional standards, including stakeholder engagement and alignment with evaluation systems.
  • Assist in preparing reports and briefing materials on evaluation findings and recommendations, ensuring that databases and information resources are user-friendly.
  • Provide technical support to the Chief of the Independent Evaluation Service on operational issues, including finance, HR, and administration.
  • Collaborate with other UN evaluation units on joint evaluation initiatives and support the inclusion of gender equality dimensions in evaluations.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in evaluation, social science, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project/programme management certification (such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®) is an added advantage. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in evaluation, preferably in normative, development, or humanitarian contexts, with hands-on experience in conducting evaluations and knowledge of gender equality issues.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in evaluation or a relevant social science field is required. A first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted. A project/programme management certification is advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in evaluation is required, with a preference for experience in normative, development, or humanitarian contexts. Candidates should have hands-on experience in conducting evaluations and familiarity with gender equality analytical work and programming. Experience in international organizations or complex organizations is desirable, along with operational support experience in evaluations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable.
