Job Overview:
The position of UN Volunteer in the Enterprise Solutions Section of UNEP's Corporate Services Division involves working closely with business process owners to design, develop, and implement workflow automation and service request tracking systems. The volunteer will play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of program delivery through the application of ICT and emerging technologies. This role requires a proactive approach to business analysis, software development, IT infrastructure maintenance, and data management. The volunteer will also engage in troubleshooting system issues, performing routine updates, and documenting processes to ensure clarity and efficiency in operations. The overall expectation is to provide high-quality support to UNEP and its beneficiaries, contributing to the organization's mission of environmental advocacy and sustainable development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the UN Volunteer include assisting in the business analysis, development, and deployment of software solutions; maintaining and optimizing IT infrastructure; preparing data sets and maintaining reports/dashboards; monitoring and troubleshooting system issues; performing routine system updates and upgrades; identifying vulnerabilities and managing patches; implementing continuous delivery systems; troubleshooting issues in various environments; and documenting all processes and updates clearly. Additionally, the volunteer is expected to engage in UNV activities, reflect on their voluntary actions, contribute to publications, assist new volunteers, and promote online volunteering.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of ICT and emerging technologies, with skills in software development and business analysis. Familiarity with IT infrastructure management and data analysis is essential. The ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues is also required. Furthermore, candidates should demonstrate professionalism, adaptability, creativity, and technology awareness in their work.

Educational Background:
A degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in software development, IT infrastructure management, or project management would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have some experience in software development, IT infrastructure management, or related fields. Previous volunteer experience or internships in similar roles would be beneficial, as would familiarity with the United Nations system and its operations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly French or Spanish, would be considered an asset, enhancing communication within the diverse UN environment.

The contract duration is specified as a limited term with the possibility of extensions based on funding and performance. The position is full-time, and the volunteer will receive a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) to cover basic living expenses.
