Job Overview:
The Information Management Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the production and dissemination of information regarding populations of concern, particularly in the context of protection and program information. This position involves operationalizing data standards developed at the central level within field operations, compiling and exploring data from various populations, and assisting the Programme Team and UNHCR's partners in selecting appropriate indicators for monitoring. The incumbent is expected to contribute to the operationalization of protection monitoring systems and ensure that all activities align with UNHCR's regulatory framework and core values of professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity. The role requires a proactive approach to data management, ensuring that information is accurate, timely, and relevant to the needs of the organization and its stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Information Management Associate include: operationalizing country-specific common data standards and promoting them with partners; compiling and aggregating information elements necessary for producing standardized information products; implementing data/information collection plans for baseline and context-specific data; collecting, collating, and processing information while performing data quality and consistency control; producing summary statistics; supporting the coordination of data collection teams; leveraging geographic data for map production and use in GIS; sharing UNHCR data with partner agencies and maintaining portal data in accordance with agreed frequencies; participating in needs assessment processes, specifically in data collection and processing; liaising with partners and representing UNHCR in relevant meetings; making recommendations on technical information management requirements; identifying and managing risks; and performing other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or 2 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Essential qualifications include experience in handling confidential data and a demonstrated understanding of various data collection methodologies. Desirable qualifications include experience in web design and software development, as well as the ability to formulate information management-related technical requirements and operating procedures. Functional skills required for the position include proficiency in ArcGIS, statistical analysis, and Microsoft Excel, with a strong emphasis on data management and analysis.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. While specific fields of education are not applicable, certifications in Information Technology, Statistics, or Social Sciences are considered beneficial. Essential certifications include those related to information management and data handling, which are crucial for the effective execution of the role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of relevant experience in information management or a related field. This experience should include handling confidential data, understanding data collection methodologies, and working with various data management tools. Experience in developing complex data collection tools and performing advanced spatial analysis using GIS software is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis, as well as experience in creating information products such as reports and infographics.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirements for this position include proficiency in English and the UN working language of the duty station, which is Spanish. Candidates should have an overall ability of at least B2 level in these languages. Knowledge of additional languages is considered a plus, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse environment.
