Job Overview:
The Programme Associate position is integral to the Ending Violence against Women (EVAW) Section of UN Women, which aims to address and eliminate violence against women through a comprehensive approach. This role involves providing administrative and operational support to the Policy Advisor and other specialists within the section. The Programme Associate will contribute to the development and implementation of effective programs that align with UN Women’s rules and regulations. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including staff in Nairobi and New York, to ensure the smooth execution of programmatic activities. The Programme Associate will also play a key role in financial management, ensuring that all operational and administrative tasks are completed with high quality and timeliness, in accordance with corporate principles and operational strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Associate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: providing administrative and logistic support to the EVAW Section initiatives; assisting in the preparation of program work plans, budgets, and proposals; monitoring the implementation of the Section's biennial work plan; collecting and compiling information and data related to program operations; preparing information for audits and supporting the implementation of audit recommendations; participating in operations meetings to enhance the effectiveness and coherence of UN Women’s activities; supporting budgetary planning and financial management; preparing budget revisions and requisitions; managing contributions and ensuring proper documentation; facilitating logistical arrangements for meetings and events; and supporting knowledge sharing and training initiatives within the office. The incumbent will also perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a completion of secondary education as a minimum requirement. A specialized certificate in finance, accounting, management, or secretarial skills is highly desirable. A Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, or a related field, is considered an asset. The role requires strong administrative skills, including the ability to manage data, documents, and correspondence effectively. Candidates should demonstrate a good understanding of administrative rules and regulations, as well as the ability to analyze data and resolve operational problems. Strong financial and budgeting skills are essential, along with proficiency in IT and office software packages.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of secondary education. A specialized certificate in finance, accounting, management, or secretarial skills is highly desirable. A Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, or a related field, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in administration or program management support. Experience in finance, budget management, and procurement is required, as well as proficiency in using multiple office software packages. Experience in supporting a team and familiarity with modern web-based ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud, is desirable. Additionally, experience within the UN System is considered an asset, providing candidates with a better understanding of the organizational context and operational procedures.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is desirable and may be beneficial for communication within the organization and with international partners.
