Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer in Registration and Identity Management will work under the authority of the Head of the Field Unit of Hadjer Hadid, with technical supervision from the Registration and Identity Management Officer based in the Abeche Coordination Office. The role involves assisting in the implementation of registration, enrollment, and digital identity strategies for populations of concern, ensuring compliance with global and regional protection objectives. The volunteer will provide technical support to staff, contribute to operational guidance, and design procedures for quality registration data. The position requires a proactive approach to establishing and strengthening internal capacities for registration and identity management, advocating for fair procedures, and ensuring that identity documents for populations of concern are recognized. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate data for operational planning and reporting, and it emphasizes the importance of integrating age, gender, and diversity perspectives in all activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the UN Volunteer include: assisting in the implementation of registration and digital identity strategies; providing technical support to staff on registration activities; developing operational guidance and capacity-building initiatives; designing procedures for quality assurance of registration data; conducting regular data quality checks; providing post-deployment support for UNHCR refugee systems applications; assisting in establishing internal capacities for registration and identity management; liaising with the Digital Identity and Registration Section; advocating for efficient registration procedures; ensuring fair access to registration for populations of concern; identifying and addressing fraud in the registration process; training registration and data focal points; and documenting achievements related to volunteerism for peace and development.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, teamwork, commitment to continuous learning, effective planning and organizing skills, strong communication abilities, and flexibility. They should possess a good understanding of UNHCR operations and procedures, have excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively in a multicultural environment. Candidates should also be adaptable to living and working in potentially hazardous conditions.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required, typically including a degree in social sciences, international relations, or a related field. Candidates should have a strong understanding of refugee issues and the principles of humanitarian assistance, as well as familiarity with registration and identity management processes.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in humanitarian work, particularly in registration and identity management. Experience working with refugees or in a similar context is highly desirable. The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively is crucial, as is experience in training and capacity development.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language spoken in Chad. Knowledge of Arabic, particularly Chadian Arabic, is advantageous. Proficiency in English is not common in the region but would be beneficial for communication with international staff and partners.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Hadjer Hadid, a small town in eastern Chad, with limited facilities. The living conditions are basic, and staff will reside in a UNHCR guesthouse. The role involves a Rest and Recuperation cycle of 8 weeks, and candidates should be prepared for a challenging environment with high temperatures and limited access to medical facilities. Vaccinations for yellow fever and other diseases are recommended, and candidates should bring essential supplies from larger towns. Flexibility and a willingness to adapt to harsh living conditions are essential for this role.
