Job Overview: The Radiotherapy Medical Physicist will play a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities of Member States in the field of radiotherapy. This position involves working closely with a team led by the Section Head to develop and implement new techniques, methodologies, and training materials that focus on the physical and technical aspects of radiotherapy. The role requires a strong emphasis on quality assurance and dosimetry auditing, particularly in low and middle-income countries. The Radiotherapy Medical Physicist will be expected to provide technical support, conduct research, and deliver training to ensure the safe and effective application of nuclear technology in medical settings. This position is integral to the IAEA's mission of improving health outcomes through the application of nuclear science.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Radiotherapy Medical Physicist will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: participating in projects related to medical physics for radiotherapy; designing and developing components of the program; organizing and leading technical meetings, seminars, and courses; delivering technical advice; supporting quality assurance activities in radiotherapy; developing new dosimetry techniques; contributing to editorial activities for publications; and developing training materials. Additionally, the physicist will analyze data from participating hospitals for quality auditing in dosimetry, support comprehensive audits in radiotherapy, and act as a technical officer for IAEA's technical cooperation projects in medical physics. This includes planning, implementing, and evaluating projects, providing advice on expert usage, and organizing training courses.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Doctorate Degree in medical radiation physics or radiation dosimetry. A minimum of 7 years of clinical experience in radiotherapy physics is required, along with experience in radiotherapy beam calibration and clinical dosimetry. Candidates should also have practical skills in quality assurance in radiotherapy, as well as experience in education and training in medical physics. Demonstrated experience in project design, monitoring, and implementation is essential, along with familiarity with the specific needs of low and middle-income countries in the field of radiotherapy physics.

Additional Notes: The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package that includes a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $86,027, along with a variable post adjustment currently amounting to US $48,43
