Job Overview: The Unit Head position within the Division of Budget and Finance is a critical role that involves leading a team responsible for managing financial transactions and ensuring compliance with the IAEA's financial regulations. The Unit Head will report directly to the Section Head and will be tasked with overseeing the processing of financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in reporting, and leading change initiatives within the unit. This role requires a strong understanding of financial principles and practices, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders. The Unit Head will also serve as a focal point for providing guidance and support to staff members across the organization, facilitating effective communication and collaboration to enhance financial operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Unit Head will be responsible for leading and managing the accounts payable segment of the financial operations, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner. Key responsibilities include acting as a payment authorization officer, coordinating the monitoring and reporting of key performance indicators, and reviewing accounting records to ensure data integrity. The Unit Head will also lead less complex change initiatives and participate in more complex initiatives aimed at improving the effectiveness and quality of financial operations. Additionally, the Unit Head will ensure that adequate internal controls are in place for financial transaction processing and will oversee the preparation of year-end financial statements and periodic closure tasks assigned to the unit.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a directly related field. An advanced university degree or recognized professional accounting certification is considered an advantage. Applicants should have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in finance and accounting, with at least two years in an international environment. Experience in a supervisory role and in drafting policy and procedure documents is also required. Strong analytical skills and a high degree of accuracy in financial reporting are essential for this position.

Additional Notes: The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $71,335, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. Additional benefits include a variable post adjustment, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses, and six weeks of annual leave.
