Job Overview:
The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) will play a vital role in the EpiC project, which is focused on enhancing the HIV response in the Philippines. The CEC will report directly to the Project Manager and will be responsible for supporting the implementation of community engagement and strengthening activities in priority sites. This position requires close collaboration with various teams, including Community Engagement Program, Technical, Strategic Implementation, and Operational teams, to ensure effective coordination among community-based organizations, networks, and partners involved in HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and support services. The CEC will also be tasked with developing innovative strategies to engage young adults in HIV programming, thereby promoting self-reliant management of national HIV programs and improving health outcomes for adults at risk and people living with HIV (PLHIV).

Duties and Responsibilities:
The CEC will assist the Community Engagement Officer in developing and implementing community strengthening strategies, particularly those targeting young adults. Key responsibilities include:
  • Collaborating with the CE Officer and other sub-teams to devise implementation strategies for young adults.
  • Proposing innovative community engagement and social behavior change communication (SBCC) strategies to enhance demand for HIV services.
  • Mapping support groups and organizations within EpiC sites to identify collaboration opportunities.
  • Supervising the cadre of young adults to ensure their active participation in HIV programming.
  • Documenting community engagement efforts and monitoring indicators in the Community Engagement Framework.
  • Disseminating capacity strengthening and project implementation opportunities to community partners.
  • Ensuring ethical engagement of young adults and community partners in all activities.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in social work, community development, social sciences, public health, or a related field. Alternatively, candidates with at least two years of college education and relevant work experience in community engagement will also be considered. Additionally, candidates should have 1-3 years of experience working with community-based organizations, NGOs, or civil society organizations, preferably in the context of HIV or public health programs. Strong coordination, documentation, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a willingness to travel domestically as required, with approximately 20% of the work involving travel in the National Capital Region (NCR), Region 3, and 4A.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as social work, community development, social sciences, or public health is required. Candidates with significant experience in community engagement may be considered even if they do not meet the educational requirements fully.

Experience:
The position requires 1-3 years of relevant experience, particularly in working with community-based organizations or civil society organizations. Experience in community mobilization, coordination, or implementation of field-based activities is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and establish strong working relationships across diverse organizations and cultures.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Filipino or other local dialects is highly desirable. Candidates should possess strong communication skills to engage effectively with community partners and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and may involve travel within the Philippines. The expected hiring salary range for this role is PHP 591,333 to 620,000 annually, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
