Job Overview: The Online UN Volunteer position is designed to provide essential graphic design and layout support to IOM Zimbabwe's Media and Communications team. The volunteer will work closely with the Media and Communications Associate and the Chief of Mission to enhance the quality and consistency of IOM's institutional communication products. This role is crucial for documenting achievements and presenting data in a clear and engaging manner, which is vital for effective communication with partners and stakeholders. The volunteer will be tasked with creating visually appealing materials that align with IOM's corporate branding standards, ensuring that all outputs are suitable for both digital dissemination and print production. The position is short-term, and specific priorities and deliverables will be established at the beginning of the assignment based on the organization's immediate needs.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Online UN Volunteer will be responsible for a variety of graphic design tasks, including but not limited to:
Supporting the layout and design of strategic and corporate documents for IOM Zimbabwe, such as the 2025 Annual Report, Communication Strategy, Private Sector Partnership Impact Reports, Thematic Briefs, Private Sector Strategy, Resource Mobilization Strategy, and communication annexes to project reports.
Developing social media cards and visual content based on the IOM Zimbabwe Annual Report to enhance online engagement.
Redesigning Mental Health and Addiction Care (MHAC) information sheets for publication on the website, ensuring compliance with IOM branding guidelines.
Designing visibility materials, including banners, flyers, and brochures, to promote IOM's initiatives and achievements.
Delivering final outputs in both editable and publication-ready formats, ensuring they meet the required standards for digital and print use.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for this position should possess strong graphic design skills, with proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). A good understanding of branding principles and experience in creating visually appealing communication materials is essential. The ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and manage multiple tasks effectively is also required. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work that aligns with IOM's mission and values.
Educational Background: A background in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should ideally have completed or be pursuing a degree in graphic design, visual arts, communications, or a similar discipline. Relevant certifications or training in design software will be considered an asset.
Experience: While prior experience in graphic design is highly desirable, it is not strictly required.
