Job Overview:
As a Senior Program Officer, you will play a crucial role in the Federal Government Relations team, reporting directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and implementing advocacy strategies that align with the Foundation's global program priorities. You will manage one or more grant portfolios aimed at advancing key initiatives and will be tasked with building and maintaining relationships with influential US decision-makers who are pivotal in areas relevant to the Foundation's mission. This role requires a deep understanding of the political landscape and the ability to navigate complex policy discussions to further the Foundation's objectives. You will also collaborate closely with various teams within the Foundation to ensure that advocacy efforts are integrated and effective, thereby maximizing the impact of the Foundation's work in health and development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your duties will include monitoring and tracking relevant issues across the Foundation’s health and development priorities, particularly as they relate to federal-level discussions. You will establish and maintain relationships with key US decision-makers who influence funding and policy decisions that align with the Foundation's priorities. Additionally, you will identify and articulate the Foundation's policy and funding priorities, creating opportunities to engage government stakeholders in the US to further these goals. Collaboration with colleagues on the Federal Government Relations team will be essential as you develop and implement coordinated engagement strategies. You will also be responsible for updating leadership on political and policy trends, identifying potential advocacy partners, assessing their alignment with the Foundation's strategies, and leading grant assessments over time. Representing the Foundation to external constituencies and fostering an inclusive culture within the organization will also be key aspects of your role.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree coupled with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You should be recognized as an expert in health and development policy, with mastery-level knowledge of the US federal government budget and decision-making processes. A strong network of contacts within the US government, particularly among senior-level staff and officials, is essential, as is the ability to expand this network as needed. Significant experience in roles that align with the Foundation’s health and development priorities is required, along with a proven track record in strategic planning and strategy implementation. Familiarity with the current global health and foreign assistance context in the US, as well as international development policy, is also necessary. You should demonstrate expertise in managing, monitoring, and evaluating grants, and have experience working in dynamic, multi-team environments and collaborating with external organizations.
