Job Overview: The Director, Principal Giving East will play a pivotal role in leading the IRC’s Principal Giving Program in the Eastern United States. This position is designed for an entrepreneurial professional who possesses a strong background in fundraising, particularly with ultra-high net worth individuals. The Director will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to a team of fundraisers, focusing on securing significant multi-year commitments from high-net-worth individuals. The role requires a deep understanding of donor needs and performance, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with colleagues across the organization. The Director will also be accountable for achieving team revenue targets while managing their own portfolio of prospects and donors, crafting and implementing strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with potential principal gift donors.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Director will supervise a team of front-line fundraisers, inspiring and motivating them to optimize the size and impact of gifts to the IRC. They will provide dynamic thought leadership to enhance financial revenue and private sector engagement. Key responsibilities include developing and supporting the Principal Giving East team's efforts to cultivate, solicit, and steward a growing portfolio of major donors, ensuring personalized communications and tracking progress in Salesforce. The Director will work closely with IRC's senior leadership and program staff to create compelling cases for philanthropic investment, develop a strategic plan with annual goals, and manage a small portfolio of Principal Giving capacity donors. Additionally, the Director will undertake special projects as requested, ensuring that the team operates effectively and efficiently.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have at least 10 years of non-profit fundraising experience, with a demonstrated expertise in ultra-high net worth individual fundraising. A history of being an empowering and supportive manager to front-line fundraisers is essential. The ideal candidate will have a consistent record of securing 7 and 8+ figure gifts, experience leading and supervising frontline fundraisers, and the ability to develop blended and multi-year funding opportunities. Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial, as is the ability to develop creative donor strategies in collaboration with program staff or senior leadership.
