Job Overview: The Grand Bargain Senior Adviser will play a pivotal role in the Norwegian Refugee Council by producing and developing high-quality concept notes, strategies, and plans that enhance the organization's strategic communication and outreach efforts. This position requires a proactive and collaborative professional who possesses excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills, as well as the ability to translate complex humanitarian issues into clear and accessible messaging for diverse audiences. The adviser will act as the main contact point for the Grand Bargain Facilitation Group Sherpas and will oversee and support various Secretariat processes, ensuring effective communication and engagement with non-signatories and external stakeholders. The role also involves planning and organizing meetings, monitoring and reporting on progress, and leading assessments to ensure the successful implementation of strategies and initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Grand Bargain Senior Adviser will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including but not limited to: developing and implementing strategies that align with the Grand Bargain objectives; overseeing communication strategies and outreach efforts to enhance stakeholder engagement; serving as the main point of contact for the Facilitation Group Sherpas; managing the development of reports, concept notes, option papers, briefing notes, and other relevant materials; planning and organizing meetings to facilitate discussions and decision-making processes; leading monitoring, reporting, and assessment activities to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies; and ensuring that all communications are tailored to meet the needs of diverse audiences, thereby maximizing the impact of humanitarian work.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Grand Bargain Senior Adviser position must possess a Master's degree and have professional experience in the humanitarian sector. Proficiency in Grand Bargain and global humanitarian policy is essential, along with expertise in developing high-quality products such as concept notes and key messages. Exposure to governments, international non-governmental organizations, the United Nations, and/or the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should have experience coordinating at the global policy level and demonstrate fluency in English, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in a relevant field, such as international relations, humanitarian studies, public policy, or a related discipline. This advanced degree is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and for developing effective strategies and communication plans that align with the Grand Bargain objectives.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have substantial professional experience in the humanitarian sector, with a focus on global humanitarian policy and the Grand Bargain framework.
