Job Overview:
The Computing Engineer position is situated within the office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at CERN. This role is pivotal in supporting the development and compliance of policies related to transversal computing activities across the organization. The successful candidate will provide analytical expertise and advice to various departments on the implementation of key areas such as Data Governance, Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Risk Management. The role involves leading participation in CIO Community Technical Committees and cross-department working groups, coordinating the implementation of the Office of the CIO's Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) workplan, and reviewing CIO policies in collaboration with the CERN community. Additionally, the Computing Engineer will contribute to the evaluation of new digital initiatives to ensure they align with GRC policies and advise the CIO on the implications of ongoing computing services activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Computing Engineer include leading and participating in technical committees and task forces within the CIO community, coordinating the implementation of GRC workplan items, and reviewing policies with the CERN community. The role also involves advising on compliance with GRC policies for new digital initiatives, providing insights on the implications of ongoing activities in computing services, and ensuring that all initiatives adhere to established governance frameworks. The Computing Engineer will also be responsible for capturing and analyzing requirements for ICT systems, implementing ICT security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security standards and policies, and optimizing ICT architectures and designs. Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree or equivalent relevant experience in Information Technology or a related field. A solid understanding of IT governance concepts and policies is essential, along with excellent analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a federated environment with distributed responsibilities. Technical competencies required include capturing and analyzing requirements for ICT systems, knowledge of best practices for implementing ICT security standards, and familiarity with software life-cycle tools and procedures. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong behavioral competencies such as achieving results, effective communication, flexibility in adapting to new processes, and a commitment to continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's Degree in Information Technology or a related field. Equivalent relevant experience may also be considered. Experience:

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a limited duration contract for 5 years, with the possibility of extension up to 8 years and eligibility for an indefinite contract tenure. The working hours are set at 40 hours per week, with hybrid job flexibility. The role may require work during nights, Sundays, and official holidays, depending on the needs of the organization. The job grade is classified as 6-7, and the reference for this position is CIO-2026-107-LD.
