Job Overview:
The Electronics Technician position at CERN involves supporting the integration and commissioning of services and infrastructure for the CMS Tracker construction. This role is critical in ensuring the successful preparation and validation of services, as well as conducting reception testing of components and detector assemblies. The technician will be responsible for setting up and operating test electronics, which are essential for the commissioning of detector services and the functional testing of detector components and assemblies. This position requires a hands-on approach and a strong understanding of electronics, as well as the ability to work collaboratively within a team to achieve project goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Electronics Technician include preparing and supporting the installation and commissioning of services and infrastructure for large detector assemblies, such as cables, racks, and test setups. The technician will set up and operate test electronics and commissioning setups, including interlocks, sensor interfaces, and thermal test configurations. They will perform reception testing of detector substructures and components, including power distribution hardware delivered to CERN. Additionally, the technician will validate integrated electrical services, including power, signal, and grounding interfaces installed on detector assemblies, and troubleshoot any issues that arise during construction. Maintaining traceability is also a key responsibility, which involves updating the production database with acceptance test reports and installation data.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Electronics or a related field. Additional relevant certificates are considered an asset. Proficiency in the assembly, installation, and wiring of electronic components is essential, along with hands-on experience with electrical testing and measurement techniques using laboratory and test equipment such as multimeters, power supplies, and oscilloscopes. Experience in maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory, updating technical databases, and documenting testing procedures and results is also required.

Educational Background:
The position requires a higher technical diploma in Electronics or a related field. Candidates with equivalent relevant experience may also be considered. Additional certifications in electronics or related disciplines are advantageous and may enhance a candidate's application.

Experience:
Candidates should have a proven track record of proficiency in the assembly, installation, and wiring of electronic components. Hands-on experience with electrical testing and measurement techniques is crucial, as well as familiarity with laboratory and test equipment. Experience in maintaining laboratory equipment, updating technical databases, and documenting testing procedures is also necessary for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English or French is mandatory, with a commitment to learn the other language being highly desirable. This bilingual requirement ensures effective communication within the diverse workforce at CERN.

Additional Notes:
The position is a limited duration contract for 4 years, with the possibility of extension up to 8 years and eligibility for an indefinite contract tenure. The job requires a commitment to working 40 hours per week, fully onsite, and may involve work in radiation areas, interventions in underground installations, and shift work, including nights, Sundays, and official holidays as required by the organization's needs.
