Job Overview: The Chief Global People & Culture Officer (CPCO) is a high-impact executive role responsible for leading the Global People & Culture function in alignment with IRC's vision, mission, and strategic goals. This position is critical for the organization as it will involve serving as a trusted partner to the CEO, Executive Board, and senior global leadership. The CPCO will set strategic direction while ensuring effective execution across the Global People & Culture function. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement in talent attraction, development, and retention across all geographies, ensuring that the function operates efficiently and effectively in alignment with organizational priorities. The role also emphasizes the importance of IRC’s inclusion agenda and practices, making it essential for the candidate to have a strong background in managing complex global people functions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The CPCO will have a wide range of responsibilities, including acting as a strategic advisor to the Executive Board and senior leadership, delivering a multi-year global People strategy, and steering the organization through financial constraints. They will lead the Global People & Culture function to operate as a high-performing team, ensuring proactive support across the employee lifecycle from attraction to succession. The CPCO will also oversee global rewards, performance management, and talent systems, ensuring equity and alignment with organizational strategy. Additionally, they will sponsor IRC's people data infrastructure agenda, drive the use of AI tools within the People function, and champion internal partnership approaches to grow global talent pipelines. The role requires a focus on psychosocial health, safety, and employee wellbeing, ensuring these elements are integrated into all business operations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a proven track record as a senior executive and trusted advisor to the C-Suite in a large, global organization. They should possess deep expertise in Human Capital and People Management, with a demonstrated ability to deliver high ROI and align with business strategy. Experience in leading complex, multi-geography organizations through operational changes is essential, as is familiarity with people data infrastructure and analytics. Strong organization design and development credentials are required, along with a history of driving internal talent development and building inclusive, high-performing teams.
Educational Background: A relevant advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Professional certifications in HR or related disciplines would be advantageous, as they demonstrate a commitment to the field and ongoing professional development.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in senior leadership roles within global organizations, particularly in the area of People and Culture. They should have a history of managing complex organizational structures and driving change initiatives that enhance employee experience and organizational performance. Experience in navigating multicultural environments and managing diverse teams is crucial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in additional languages is considered a strong asset, particularly in languages relevant to IRC's operational regions. This will enhance communication and collaboration across diverse teams and geographies.
Additional Notes: This position is full-time and may require upwards of 20% global travel. The compensation for this role ranges from $250,000 to $350,000, depending on various factors such as labor market conditions, job type, and individual candidate experience.
