Job Overview:
The Business Analyst – Data & Back-Office Systems position at the EIB involves leading and structuring complex business analysis activities to implement and maintain critical software solutions. This role is essential for providing expertise in business requirements analysis, which includes data-driven insights, process analysis, solution design, and software configuration. The successful candidate will work closely with various departments within the Finance Directorate and will be responsible for ensuring that the organization's digitalization, technology security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and regulatory needs are met. The position requires regular office presence at the EIB headquarters in Luxembourg, with opportunities for telework in accordance with the bank's policies. The role is designed for a full-time commitment and offers a permanent contract at grade 5, reflecting the importance of the responsibilities involved.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Business Analyst include providing business support to projects with specific scope and timing, ensuring their realization within the set parameters. The analyst will act as a Business Analyst on complex business or IT projects in areas such as Lending, Treasury, or Borrowings, which may involve new product implementations, functionality introductions, or application upgrades. The role requires collaboration in workshops to understand project goals, workflows, and complex business needs, as well as reviewing technical documentation related to approved solutions before implementation. The analyst will advise project stakeholders on solution feasibility, risks, and implementation trade-offs, and will regularly report on the status of FI-PRO applications’ developments to the Head of Unit. Additionally, the analyst will ensure the efficient deployment and operation of FI-PRO applications, provide first-level user support, identify recurring issues, gather user requirements, execute User Acceptance Tests (UAT), and provide status updates to senior management. The analyst will also manage relationships with counterparts from other EIB Directorates and represent FI-PRO in working groups and transversal initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree, equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in information technology, mathematics, or finance. A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is required, ideally within the financial sector or business consultancy. Solid proven experience as a Business Analyst is essential, along with proven experience in data visualization tools, particularly Power BI, for at least 2 years. Candidates should have a good knowledge of financial instruments, systems, and processes related to Back-Offices, as well as an understanding of payment market standards, including ISO 2002
  • Experience with payment and reconciliation software such as ION Wallstreet D&C, SWIFT Alliance Access, or similar platforms is also necessary. Strong presentation, communication, and coordination skills are required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office 36
  • Experience in IT projects involving business rules automation and project management would be advantageous, as would knowledge of financial back-office software and proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree that is equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree. The preferred fields of study are information technology, mathematics, or finance, as these areas provide the foundational knowledge necessary for the analytical and technical aspects of the role. Candidates with advanced degrees may also be considered favorably, as they may bring additional expertise and insights to the position.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience. This experience should ideally be in the financial sector or with business consultancy firms, where the candidate has developed a solid understanding of business analysis and the specific needs of financial operations. Proven experience as a Business Analyst is crucial, as is familiarity with data visualization tools and financial systems. Candidates with experience in IT projects, particularly those involving business rules automation and project management, will have an advantage in this role.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is essential, and a good command of French is also required, as both languages are official working languages of the EIB. Knowledge of other EU languages would be considered an advantage, as it may enhance communication within the diverse environment of the bank. Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
