Job Overview: The Upstream and Investment Manager will play a pivotal role in the Infrastructure and Natural Resources department (INR) of the Asia and Pacific (APAC) region. This position is crucial for enabling investment opportunities, enhancing investment outcomes, and improving investment conditions, which are essential for the corporation to fulfill its ambitious strategy. The Manager will be responsible for formulating the unit's strategy for various industry sectors across the region, engaging with thought leaders and decision-makers, and establishing partnerships to foster innovative thinking about market creation. The role requires a proactive approach to convening stakeholders and connecting expertise from various sources to facilitate upstream operations. The Manager will also oversee the quality of operations, ensuring high development effectiveness and exceptional client service, while managing upstream projects and enabling investment opportunities through client preparation and development. Duties and Responsibilities: The Upstream and Investment Manager will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including:
Strategic Responsibility: Formulating the unit's strategy for industry sectors in coordination with the Regional Industry Director, engaging with stakeholders to foster innovative market creation, and implementing sector and regulatory reforms to unlock private investment opportunities.
Business Responsibility: Managing upstream operations to ensure high-quality project design and development effectiveness, enabling investment opportunities by incubating high-impact projects, and enhancing investment outcomes through value-additive services.
Executing Investment Operations: Supporting business development efforts, assuming the transaction manager role, and providing credit and investment guidance to teams.
Knowledge Capture and Management: Identifying trends and technologies that can increase development impact, disseminating knowledge across teams, and building external brand recognition for IFC's capabilities in catalyzing investment opportunities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent professional qualification in Business or Finance, along with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience. A strong understanding of bankability criteria and demonstrated analytical skills are essential. Candidates should have a proven track record in project implementation for investment operations and a commitment to the World Bank Group and IFC's mission and values. A deep understanding of industry sectors and the ability to link policy reforms to deliver solutions at a country level is required.
