Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position is designed for individuals who are interested in contributing to the graphic formatting of documents related to gender sectoral analysis. The role involves working closely with the programme staff and the communications team to design the visual layout of 21 sheets and 2 guidance documents. Each sheet will consist of 2 to 5 pages, and the guidance documents will be 18 pages each. The Online Volunteer will be responsible for creating draft designs based on specific requirements and engaging in discussions with the focal point and communications team to ensure that the designs meet the necessary standards. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn about the intersection of graphic design and gender analysis, while also building connections with the UN Women programme team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteer will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
  • Creating draft designs for the 21 sheets and 2 guidance documents based on the requirements provided.
  • Collaborating with the communications team to refine and finalize the designs.
  • Ensuring that all designs adhere to UN Women's corporate design guidelines, which will be provided to the Online Volunteer.
  • Engaging in discussions with the focal point to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments to the designs.
  • Contributing to the overall visual presentation of the gender sectoral analysis documents, ensuring clarity and accessibility of information.
  • Participating in team meetings and discussions to understand the broader context of the project and how graphic design plays a role in supporting gender equality initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Online Volunteer position should possess the following qualifications:
  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of design principles and the ability to create visually appealing layouts.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with the programme staff and communications team.
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to follow design guidelines accurately.
  • Previous experience in graphic design, particularly in creating layouts for reports or documents, is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A commitment to gender equality and an understanding of gender issues would be an asset.

Educational Background:
While there are no strict educational requirements for this Online Volunteer position, candidates with a background in graphic design, visual arts, communications, or a related field are encouraged to apply.
